Madrid, SpainJune 1, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C
We were due to have another walking tour in Madrid but opted to have a sleep in. After breakfast we headed off for some shopping prior to our transfer to Arunjuez to join our tour group. Jo bought some new shoes.
Tapas for lunch was beautiful.
It was the lunch that kept on coming. Something got lost in translation and whilst we started with this, the dishes kept coming out. Some were for free and the others on the bill. The paella was sensational as were all the dishes. We had to tell our waiter no more por favor! My waistline is expanding too much. ☺
We then took our transfer to Arunjuez and joined the tour group for our introduction followed by dinner. We were meant to meet up in Madrid but our accomodation was cancelled to accomodate football fans who are obviously more important than tourists. Some of you may well be aware that Madrid was hosting the EUFA final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs so I went looking for a local bar to watch the game.
The Spanish people are very friendly and helpful. 10 times more so when they find out you are Australian and not an English football hooligan. I bought a beer and started watching the match with the locals and spurs fans. One thing I don't understand are the continual chants. Apart from being loud and annoying they lose sight of the game and keep asking what happened. I ended up leaving just before half time and went back to the hotel.
