    Seville, Spain

    June 11, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

I found it!!!! The first photo shows you what it is.

We had a great day in Seville today. Wow. What a place. The best thing of all is that that it only rains for 33 days a year.  The rest is sunshine!

We started off the day with a visit to the Spanish Plaza which was built in 1929 for the world fair. Spectacular to say the least. It has a section for each of the 50 provinces in Spain with tiled tributes for each. Quite an amazing sight. Each of the countries who participated in the Fair built their displays in their architectural styles. Many are still being used as Embassies today.

From here we went to Alcazar Palace which featured in several Game of Thrones scenes. Truly magnificent!! We were only able to visit 4 of the 48 patios which is somewhat disappointing but what we saw was magnificent. So ornate, so intricate and so breath taking. Wow!!

From here we progressed to the Seville Cathedral. Omg!! It us the largest gothic cathedral in the world and is almost indescribable. Mere words are not enough. We were so fortunate that the Corpus Christi was still on display. It is made of solid silver and weigh 2.2 tonnes. I have never seen anything like it. We also saw the sarcophagus of Christopher Columbus which has travelled the world since his death. They say he has covered more distance in his coffin since his death than when he was alive including a considerable amount of time in the West Indies.

This evening we left the city to a farm where bulls and horses are bred. The horses are Lipizzan and are such big, beautiful and majestic animals. Very friendly, very majestic and a great experience. We capped off the visit with a bbq dinner. Life can be tough sometimes.
