    Murmansk. THE task. Checked!

    The task of the day was to find the first of the ten nuclear civil boat built by Russia from 1957. The Lenin is the first of the nine icebreaker built by Russia. Last nuclear boat is a cargo. He is now on display at Murmansk and can be visited with an English speaking tourguide and it worths every penny. This boat has been built in 36 months!! And went in service late 1959, early 1960, this icebreaker has been in service until 2000. Four of them are still in service. I made many pictures but ten of them is all what I can share.. lenin had an output power of 44.000 Horse Power, twice more than US icebreaker at that time who were steam ones only and had to refuel every month. The Lenin was able to cruise for a year at the minimum but with new "fuel bars", it could be at sea from four to six YEARS.. nowadays, icebreakets are 90.000 Horse Power and planning to make some twice powerful.
