    Medicine Lake

    June 13, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

Medicine lake was probably one of my favourite lakes on the trip. We went on a good day and I just loved how smooth the lake waters were! You could just see the surroundings reflect off of the water. There were also these little things bubbling out of the water. I'm not sure what they were but they were pretty cool!
Once we were back on the road, we had to stop as there were a bunch of goats on the road.... Here's one of them getting close and personal with us!

    Jasper

    June 13, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

After Moose Lake, we drove to Jasper and walked around the town to stretch our legs. It's a small humble place, with lots of touristy souvenir shops around. It's a good place to stop to stretch your legs and grab some food while on the road!
We stopped by a restaurant in the town (can't remember what it was called!) to get some lunch. The food was really good size and the waiter we had was excellent. I ordered the buffalo wings and they were delicious! I don't have many photos from Jasper unfortunately... I was too tired and zonked out from the drive!

    Moose Lake

    June 13, 2017 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

We made a brief stop by Moose Lake on the way to Jasper.

It's a nice lake located on the side of road. It's great to step out and breathe in the fresh air and take in the scenery after a long drive!
Apparently rainbow trout can be fished here during the winter period. Might give that a go next time!

    Mount Robson

    June 12, 2017 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 1 °C

We stopped by Mount Robson on the way from Valemount to Jasper.

I was originally going to snap a few photos from the car park but it's work walking down to the grass to get a glimpse of the mountain.

The lawn area has lots of lavender flowers blossoming, making photos of the mountain even better!

    Queen Elizabeth Park

    June 9, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We went for a morning walk around Queen Elizabeth Park today.

I have to say i was very impressed by the gardens and how neat and tidy it was! Coming from New Zealand where we are known for our greenery, I have to say that it was a lot greener here! It was such a relaxing place to be, so much easier to breathe.Read more

    Whistler, Canada

    June 7, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

We made our way to Whistler after visiting Shannon Falls. It was quite warm when we were there!

My first impression of whistler when we arrived was amazing. I loved the rows of timber buildings - kind of reminded me a bit of the town in Queenstown but bigger!

The first thing that caught my eye when we entered was the Olympic rings - the winter Olympics were held here a few years ago. It's a popular attractions for a lot of tourists! It was hard trying to get one decent photo of it without anyone posing next to it. But I think I did pretty well in the end!

There were many shops to visit but of course the prices were higher as it is a very touristy attraction.

We walked through the village and stopped by the Old Spaghetti Factory. Overall, our food was quite average. But have to admit that it was good value for money as the main meal included soup and ice cream.

It's a great place and I enjoyed being there. It's very picturesque and I'd love to come back here during the snow season!

    Shannon Falls

    June 7, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Beautiful waterfall and stream! Didn't have to walk very far from the car park to see this wonderful view. I only realised then that I had forgotten the memory card fir my camera. Would've been nice to have a long exposure shot of the stream but the s8 camera did pretty well too!

This place was so refreshing and revitalising. You can get quite close the waterfall and feel a bit if the water spraying on you.

There are wild bears wandering around this area, so you do need to be careful, but as long as you're not bothering them and you keep your distance, they will leave you alone. You'll see many bushes around this area, which I assume are for the bears.

We had some spare time, so just enjoyed a little lay down on the grass! Super relaxing.

    Grouse mountain

    June 6, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Grouse mountain was great! I expected it to be quite cold seeing the snow still laying around. However, it was surprisingly quite warm! To get to grouse mountain, we had to take a 6 minute ride up in the gondola, accompanied by facts and history about the Capolina area.

There, we saw a bird show, lumberjack show and two of the bears kept in captivity.

First thing we did was go to the bird show where we saw a bald eagle, falcon and an owl. It was great and very informative! My favorite was the owl, I got to take a close up photo of the owl after the show =p

Afterwards, we went to check out the bears, but they were both asleep when we got there. We decided to come back an hour to check on them. In the meantime, we went to the lumberjack show, where we saw role played woodcutting races, and other competitions that lumberjacks did.

We went back to check on the bears, and we were fortunate enough to see them awake and in action. The two bears that reside there are called Grinder and Coola. Grinder is said to be the more playful one compared to Coola, who is said to be the more dominant bear. Grinder was digging, throwing and sleeping in the snow, it was absolutely adorable.

    Capolina lake

    June 6, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Beautiful scenery/view! Just about 10mins drive away from the gondola to grouse mountain. This place honestly reminded me of the sound of music with the open field of green grass, surrounding pine trees and the snow capped mountains.

    I didn't want to leave!
