    Lake Ohau

    After leaving Glenn Tanner, we stopped at Twizel to do shopping etc. On the way we stopped at the river and saw masses of salmon swimming up river.

    We spent 3 nights at Round Bush DOC camp (a freecamp), parked right by the lake.

    On Saturday we biked part of the Alps to Ocean trail, from Ohau lodge, toward Qualburn. After biking 12km uphill, with great lake views, we decided to turn around soon after we started descending. All up about 30km. On the way back we stopped at Ohau lodge for hot chocolate (and Pete had apple cake).

    On Sunday we took the kayak out on the lake in the morning. It was a beautiful day and perfectly calm when we left. On the way back however the wind picked up and the sun disappeared behind clouds.

    Monday we left Round bush camp and had a cup of tea by Lake Middleton on the way to Omarama.    Read more
