• Day 4: More of Barcelona!

    June 28, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

I have been intrigued by the ancient water taps on the streets and thought they were just decrations and from way back in the past. A local explained that they are actually fully operational, and it is where they fill their water bottles. Some are hundreds of years old, and before an area is built, these are put in first!

On our walk, we stumbled upon a very unimpressive building but decided to pay a visit as people were streaming in and out. What a delightful discovery we made inside!!! The building is the Historical Archives of the City of Barcelona consisting of over 9km of historical documents of the city!!!!!! It is one of the most important archival institutions in the country. You step into a beautiful courtyard and then follow the stairs up to a lookout, viewing the Gothic city. I was so intrigued by the history and the gorgeous windows upstairs. Could have stayed there forever!!
On our way back, we found a Lego store with a Lego version of one of Gaudi's buildings. Of, and Carol and I nearly bought ourselves some wheels🤣🤣🤣
Our last stop for the day was some Tapas and Sangria for dinner! Yum yum
