Day 11: Pisa

After meeting our guide in Livorno, we started the 40-minute drive to our first stop, Pisa. An american family of 4, who we got on with very well, joined us for the drive in a black Mercedes minivan. Felt a bit like we were in some spy, top secret movie!!
Our first stop was a big courtyard with three buildings. The building on the left, first photo, is a church. The big, most impressive building was a very prestigious university where Italy's brightest minds are invited to study, and their fees are paid by the government! The third building on the right is a school for lawyers.
Then it was on to Pisa! Nothing could prepare us for this! After trying to nail the perfect photo of "holding Pisa up" and not succeeding, we were rescued by a lovely street seller who showed us how to pose.
