  • Day 4: Exploring Las Rambla

    June 27, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We stared our journey to La Boqueria markets at the beginning of Las Ramblas, one of Barcelona's busiest streets!! People everywhere!
After leaving the La Boqueria markets we walked down narrow cobblestone streets lined with shops selling all sorts!
A movement on the first floor of the Erotica Museum ( yip you read that correctly) caught my eye, and there on the little balcony was "Marilyn Monroe" giving a performance to attract visitors!!
We then stumbled upon a shop selling bags with funny sayings and laughed so much that we nearly needed change of clothes😂😂😂😂

  • Day 4: Visit to La Boqueria Markets

    June 26, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Our day started with mum's scooter arriving. Lots of laughs but she became a pro within a blink of an eye!!
Once we sorted the hop on and off bus situation and had THE BEST EVER bagel for brekky we were on our way to explore Barcelona!!!
We thought London's architectural buildings were the best but Barcelona's is breathtakingly stunning!!!
First stop was a visit to the La Boqueria food market!! A mix of colour, smells, tastes, surprises and masses of people!!! We tried to take it all in and capture it in a photo but it needs to be experienced!! We finished the visit to the markets with a delicious glass of freshly squeezed juice.
From there it was a walk down Las Ramblas on our way to The Gothic Centre!

  • Day 2: London

    June 26, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Today was another day of taking it all in! The weather here has been exceptionally hot and muggy, but we were determined to push on🥵😰🥵😰
After brekky, we jumped back onto the hop on and off bus. The ride felt like forever, and our nerves had a workout as the traffic here is crazy!!!!!
First stop was Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus where we were blown away again by the beautiful buildings! Shopping was actually of lesser importance!
The next stop was London Bridge and Tower of London! The engineer in charge of the whole project at the time of building. Was only 28 years of age!!! Here, we had some fun poses walking over the bridge. I wanted to walk along the top of the bridge with a glass bottom, but Carol-lynne was too scared 😱
The history of The Tower of London was just fascinating. Not to mention the sheer size of it all!!
The next stop was Westminster Abbey!!! A real pinch me moment!! Unfortunately, we were just too late as the Abbey was closed for visitors😪 however, standing outside and marvelling at the architecture was just as much of a privilege!!!
Finally we had some time for shopping, al be it that were exhausted from the heat and all the walking, but a girl needs to do what a girl needs to do!!!!😂😂
Onto Oxford Street and a visit to Mark's and Spencer!! Budget blown!!!
Met up for an Italian dinner in Belgravia with a friend of mum's. Then, back to our hotel for a well-earned rest!

  • Day 3: London

    June 25, 2024 in England ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

During our stay in London, visiting Elizabeth Street in Belgravia was a definite highlight on our itinerary. The charming shop fronts adorned with vibrant flowers were just as picturesque as we had hoped.
A particular delight was our stop at Peggy Porschen' bakery, where we indulged in a delightful high tea. Mum surprised me with Peggy's latest book; so no guesses what i will be doing when i get back home ......
Following our morning tea, we made our way to the War Memorial in Hyde Park. It was an unexpected privilege to witness a procession of the King's Guards on horseback, en route to Buckingham Palace for the Emperor of Japan's visit—a truly spectacular sight.
We finished our stay with a visit to Selfridges Department store, where were saw the most delightful toyshop and of course some delicious looking cakes and pastries.
Afterwards, it was time to head to Gatwick Airport for our flights to Barcelona. Leaving England, our hearts were heavy with the memories of such a wonderful experience!

  • Day 1: london

    June 23, 2024 in England ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

After being awake for almost 48 hours, we awoke from a good night sleep and found our way to the hop on and off buses!!

London has knocked our socks of with the most amazing architecture of the buildings and the rich history! Still trying to pick our jaws up from the ground🤣🤣🤣
Started our way with a stroll to Buckingham Palace, and were lucky enough to be in time to witness the changing of the guard 💂‍♂️ by chance we even managed a good spot right in front of the action!!
From there, it was back on the bus for more sightseeing. Stopped at Hard Rock Cafe for drink and some lunch.
Then, off to experience Harrod's !! Blown away by the opulence and size! Spent most of the time in the Chocolate hall and the Bakery Hall! No guesses what we bought.... definitely not the expensive handbags🤣🤣
Next stop was Kensington Palace, and for a monarchy fan, it was all I have hoped for! We had the privilege of doing a tour of the residences of Queen Mary, King George II and my all time favourite royal. Queen Victoria! Still pinching myself tbh. We also visited the sunken Garden at Kensington and saw the statue of Princess Diana, unveiled in 2021 by Princes' William and Harry. Apparently, Diana often took a walk down to the sunken garden, her favourite part of the garden, where she would chat to the gardeners! Look out for some shenanigans of Carol and me "wearing" a dress from Queen Victoria😂
With aching feet but full hearts, we returned to the hotel for a little rest before dinner.
