    Camacuma Lodge

    December 9, 2018 in Peru ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

It is the rainy season here and the water is already starting to rise. Most of the walk from the boat to the lodge was done over a small raised walkway. Later in the rainy season the boat will be able to turn off of the Amazon river and go much of the way to the lodge.

The Lodge consists of a cleared area with some buildings for cooking, dining, general washroom hammocks and a pool. Each group or couple had a small cabin with good mosquito screening, a couple of beds, a small wooden safe, and a bathroom.

After lunch we rested until about 3pm and then went for a jungle walk. We heard many different types of birds including two wild Macaws that were very friendly. Valerie and others held a sloth that was about 3 years old.

We had electricity from about 5pm until 10pm each night to charge our batteries for our electronic devices (cameras etc).
