After our siesta that we desperately needed, we headed out once more for our last walk around this beautiful town. Surprisingly it doesn’t feel as cold as it is and it was lovely being able to stroll the almost empty streets one last time.
We had planned on having our last San Gimignano gelato and were very surprised to find our two favourite shops were already shut for the night. We decided to have a gelato from one of the cafes instead and it was nothing like the ‘real’ ones we had previously enjoyed.
We walked to the town entrance and back, admiring the Christmas lights strung across the lanes and piazzas. It is starting to feel like Christmas and the locals are getting into the spirit of it too. While I love some of the elegant Christmas displays the stuffed wild boar and boar heads dressed in a Santa suits or with added reindeer antlers do give me a giggle. To start with who would think having a stuffed boar as your window display would entice people in, let alone one dressed as Santa. Very funny indeed.Read more
