    John, Andrew and myself head out to get breakfast. We find a reasonably priced place just round the corner and I think the $10 continental breakfast is actually a pretty good deal. Then we need to find Hertz to pick up our first hire car. John finally gets an Australian SIM for his phone and gets that set up. We tidy up various admin bits.

    Andrew heads out to Hidden Valley and we head out for lunch. Crispy soft shell crab salad and Thai beef salad. Then we wander down to The Waterfront and think we'll explore the WW2 Oil Storage Tunnels but they're shut so I can't enlighten you on that yet. Tomorrow, maybe. Instead we go on to the Flying Doctor and WW2 bombing of Darwin museum which is very interesting. It's also cool, thank goodness!

    It's hot and humid in Darwin. This is going to be the norm for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully we adjust to it a bit.

    Late afternoon we liaise with Andrew back at the hotel for beer by the pool, before Ubering to the Mindil Beach Sunset Market. It's a huge street food market with live entertainment and handmade crafts. There're food stalls from all over the world, selling savoury, sweet and drinks of all sorts. There's an Aussie road kill stand which made us laugh, crocodile or kangaroo burgers anyone? It's hot and crowded there with a great buzzy atmosphere. We feast on barramundi, pad Thai, curry puffs, Malaysian pancakes, strawberry and mint smoothies...
