    Chamonix

    January 28, 2023 in France ⋅ ☀️ -3 °C

We woke up early on 1/28/23 to take a one hour bus to Chamonix for skiing. Ethan and I fell asleep, and when we woke up we were in the Alps at Chamonix and we were intimidated by the slopes. We found an all you can eat breakfast for $18 each, and then we were able to rent skis and boots there as well. Then, we had to walk to rent ski jackets and snow pants and pick up our $75 pass for the slopes. We took the wrong bus, so we were delayed for a while, but eventually we made it on the lift and we overlooked the entire valley of Mont-Blanc. I was nervous and flew down the first hill, but eventually I figured it out and I wasn’t that bad, I only fell twice. Ethan started falling all over the place once it got icy, but neither of us got hurt. We stopped at a little restaurant on the mountain, and I got chicken wrapped in bacon and ethan got cheesy potatoes gratin, both were yummy. We finished the hill, and decided to go back up to play around, and I was starting to get better, so I was sad to leave. Then, we went down, extremely sore, to return all of our equipment, and then decided to go get the famous Guafres waffles, which were so good. We decided to do Apres Ski, and made friends at a bunch of the bars and definitely had fun! Then, we took the bus ride home and slept the entire way from complete exhaustion.Read more

    Geneva

    January 29, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

In Geneva, we arrived to our airbnb 1/26/23 right next to the tram station around midnight, and purchased our tickets for our day trip. Then, we spent the second half of the day in Geneva 1/27/23. We went to the Patek Philippe museum, which was amazing! There were 3 levels of the entire Patek Philippe collection and watch history. We also walked around downtown and got the famous Auer Swiss chocolate (amazing milk chocolate truffles), and then had Chinese food for dinner because everything else was expensive. Then, we tried to go to the Baths on Lake Geneva, but it was too late and the water was freezing and splashed Ethan. We went to bed early for our Chamonix trip. We got up in the morning of 1/29/23 to spend the morning in Geneva. We walked past Old Geneva and the waterfront, and saw the Jet, the tallest fountain in the world. The water was blue with swans in it, and all of the buildings had a Paris vibe to them, but the Old Geneva buildings had a medieval touch. We ate at an amazing Swiss sausage and cheese and potato fondue restaurant called Les Armures in Old Geneva, and it is where all of the famous presidents go to eat. After walking around Old Geneva for a bit, we looked through the architecture and old battle cannons, and then went into the political section of the city. We saw the UN building, the WTO, and the WHO, and then we headed towards the airport to go home.Read more

    Chateau Deox

    February 7, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ☀️ 1 °C

We got up at 6am for our train on 1/27/23, and barely made our train to Chateau Deox. As soon as it started getting lighter, we started to see the Alps mountains, and we were amazed by the size of them surrounded Lake Geneva. Then, the train took us through the mountains and we saw amazing views of mountains, snow, trees, and even a fox which reminded me of Foxy. Chateau Deox was an hour past Montreaux, and the little Swiss village was adorable. We came for the biggest hot air balloon festival in the world, and it was stunning. Although it was freezing, we got the most amazing pictures, and I got to wear cute earmuffs. We walked up to the church, and went into the hot air balloon museum. Then, we stopped for some French-style chicken, and took the Golden Pass home. Again, it was an amazing view of the mountains, and Ethan and I got the cutest couple pictures. Around Lake Geneva, it was all vineyards and fields, something I was not expecting.Read more
