Day 7 - The Picasso Museum

    November 3, 2017 in Germany ⋅ 🌫 5 °C

Unfortunately we were not able to take pictures within the museum like in other places, so I'll just give you a brief overview. Perhaps you could download one of Picasso's Blue period works while reading this short bio.

Comprising of 4,300 works, the museum's collection is the most comprehensive as regards Picasso's early years. You get to appreciate the artist's precociousness and understand some of the experiences that accompanied the development of his oeuvre

Especially valuable are the 57 works that shape his personal interpretation of Velazquez's Las Meninas, the only series of works painted by Picasso on display all together in one place. In addition, the museum owns a collection of prints (drypoints, etchings, aquatints, lithographs and linocuts) and a set of 42 ceramic works, most of which were donated by the artist's widow, Jacqueline in 1982
