    Cataract Gorge and surrounds

    Out to Cataract Gorge to walk the Duck Reach Trail, a beautiful spot that has been made into a lovely family park, with lots of walking trails. We walked for two hours up the South Esk River across a suspension bridge to a disused Power Station open to the public showing the workings etc, it was well done. Lots of laughs on the way. Then headed up the west side of the Tamar River to the furthest point at Greens Beach/West Head. Beautiful scenery on the way. Called in to Platypus House at Beauty Point to see the Platypus and Echidnas, fantastic little things, only place we are going to see them as they are elusive in the wild. Now I can give Jeanette back her 20cent coin!!!!! We called into a little Swiss Village called Grindelwald where all the houses are built in Swiss Style, very different but cute. Back to Launceston for a drive around the town before crashing at our ‘luxury accommodation’. Ended the night with a wood fired seafood pizza from the restaurant close by, washed down with a good red.Read more
