    Ghent. Belgium Gem

    July 6, 2018 in Belgium ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

We pulled up to a small barge behind a dirty pub and I doubted any wow factor for this travel break between Paris and Amsterdam.

    I was wrong.

What we saw was spectacular. 7th century monasteries, courthouses covering crime down to Paris, canals that were their main roads and toilets overhanging canals as they were also “washrooms”. Bridges where beheadings were convenient the disposal of blood and heads and that took heads off if one traveled too fast underneath.

Paris was rebuilt two centuries ago. This architecture and culture existed thirteen centuries ago. Historic overload.

Oh. And Belgium is proud of their beer and chocolate. The beer is thick and wine like not thin and hopsy like Aussie stuff and the chocolate......oh!!! (Says coco in coco heaven)
