    Kautokeino to Hetta

    May 17, 2016 in Finland ⋅ ⛅ 3 °C

Ths was our final day in Norway! We were a bit slow off the mark this morning largely due to having to set off on a 50 minute walk to find change for the shower.

The first 25 miles of the day were very steep and winding. I found the first fifteen miles fairly easy but I struggled with the next ten due to the intense wind and a lack of food and rest. At this point we rolled over the Finnish border.

Finnish customs officials confidently told us we would find shelter and food in 2 miles (actually 3.5 miles...). We were both exhausted when we reached the road
side cafe at 5pm. So we had our first meal since breakfast - a delcious meatball and mash combi with cheese sauce and some much needed coffee.

The next 20 miles saw the terrain flatten out to far easier undulating terrain. With food in our bellies and some rest we found a good fast rhythm cycling side by side. I powered agead in every down hill and Owen pulled ahead on the longer climbs.

We hoped to find somewhere to camp but due to a lack of options we hired a cabin.

Time to rest ready for day 4 of cycling which includes the threat of rain!
