Camp 24 Robledo parked up in a super aire in an old railway station, now a rural hotel on the Toute of Don Quixote. After a fabulous scenic route from our last camp the scenery was about as good as it gets for the duration over the Pass del Aire, the longest twistiest pass yet. Not sure where we are heading tomorrow will check weather and map tonight.Les mer

Camp 25 Alarcon, parked up next to the Torre de Armas looking onto Alarcon castle. What a superb wild spot. Did a shortish drive today 90 miles, called at Aldi to restock and an aire to empty waste and fill water ready for another week of wild camping. Alarcon is amazing built in the 13th century surrounded on all sides by a very deep gorge, apart from the narrow stretch we are parked on which was protected by the Torre de Amas fortification and a further gated entrance. Had a nice walk around the village, deserted as usual at this time of year but can imagine will be packed in summer. Had short 5 mile walk along the gorge to 2 further towers protecting the peninsula from the opposite side. Now our view is of a beautiful lit up castle.Les mer

Camp 26 parked up in the Aragonese Colorado Canyon Rambla Barrachina and what an amazing place. Set off from Alarcon stopped at a nice park spot enroute to walk a small canyon. The stream running through the gorge was frozen solid. Strange weather up here in the hills freezing air temperatures but hot in the sun once it comes up. Step into the shade and the temps drop to freezing again. Found this canyon on park4night with a drive down a river bed on tracks into the canyon and the scenery just gets more stunning.Les mer

Nice relaxing day in Andorra La Vella doing a lot of duty free shopping then found a nice walk up the mountain behind us to a Miradour view point. Had we had more time we could have gone 3 times higher on a round route to 2 further view points but we wanted to get back for a relax in the swimming pool and jacuzzi. 2 nights spent here topping up duty free shopping, water, washing, waste emptying and a 2 day break before we set off again following what sun we can find. The drive here from the stunning red canyon took us through freezing fog, an hour of driving through snow to arrive here back in sunshine. We were going to stop halfway but with the weather just carried on. Cos we can.Les mer

Camp 29 Millau. Weather been hit n miss today with sun, cloud, rain and cold. Stopped at Castelnau-Pegayrols, a picturesque medieval village in Aveyron where we had planned to spend the night but no phone signal at all so headed to Millau. Spent 45 minutes trying to register online to gain access along with 2 other couples but now fully signed up for camping cars aires sites.Les mer

Camp 31 Le Fournil de Saint Pierre de Chartreuse in the Chartreuse National Park mountains. Parked up in a super aire with water, waste and electric inclusive based in a small ski resort. Looks like they’ve had a reasonable amount of snow recently but most has gone now. Great drive up here through a gorge.Les mer

Camp 32 Chamonix after a slight detour from our last camp up to a small quiet ski area Passy -Plaine Joux up a great twisty pass where we planned to spend the night, we were pretty high up in the clouds so decided to move to more accomdating surroundings in the ski resort of Chamonix. What a lively place this is with all the skiers literally skiing almost into the centre and going for apres ski drinks.Les mer

Camp 33 Camping Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen based at the foot of the famous Staubbach waterfall although not a huge amount of water at present due to its frozen state high up. Great drive from Chamonix via the Montets pass and Forclaz pass, both great twisty passes with fabulous scenery, past my type of ski resorts, wide open pistes plenty of lifts and no queues, on down to Thunersee and into the massive narrow valley to Lauterbrunnen. Now set up looking out onto the Breithorn, Tschingelhornand Schilthorn moutain peaks with sheer cliffs to either side. Benji not too happy as we keep hearing loud booms like thunder which is huge lumps of ice falling from the cliff tops. 2 nights here before we set off back to the channel tunnel.Les mer

ReisendeDid think about going back via Fussen, Munich then north but only got 4 days to get to Calais from tomorrow toll free. If we had another 3 days we would have gone that way. Anyway the campsite we are on now is fabulous with very warm shower block, underfloor heating too, super hot showers just like in houses not the usual campsite showers, and we have a bath in our camper. Doing the Jungfrau train today, couldn’t not do it seeing as we are 15 mins walking from the train station.

Jungfraujoch trip

A fabulous day taking the cog wheel train from Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch at 3454m. Dogs behaved impeccably although Benji was a little uncomfortable on the train at first but soon settled into a dogs life in a massive ski region. Views were fantastic in every direction although may look completely different in summer when all the snow has gone off the lower peaks. Best time to visit as Switzerland has to be seen in snow. Would have sledged back down had we not had the dogs and may even have had a go at skiing again as not skied for 40 years. Well worth the trip now getting ready for apres ski evening in the campsite “Weidstubli”.Les mer

Camp 33 Belfort After a really scenic twisty 4 hour no motorway route from Lauterbrunnen over numerous passes, via a village called Moron Village, didn’t get a sign picture sorry Nathan, arrived at Belfort. Nice park up very close to the old town and citadel so had an evening wander around the town and fort. Next stop Luneville for tomorrow’s camp.Les mer

Camp 34 Lac De Madine. Had a short stop enroute when we saw a sign at the side of the road pointing to Trenches Allemagne Down a little track. Drove down for a mile or so and found the German world war 1 trenches and craters where the French miners dug under the German lines and laid explosives. Quite strange atmosphere now all covered in forest when during the war there wasn’t a tree in site.Les mer

Penultimate camp on the edge of a very rainy Semois river park up. Had a good run up, called at a vets to get the dogs passports updated, bargain 99 euros for 2x health check up, 2 x tape worm tablets, 2 x rabies injection and 2 x annual general injection plus cheese and passports valid for a further 3 years. Arrived here this afternoon hoping to get to the castle and town but it hasn’t stopped raining yet. Can’t really complain because it’s the first real rain we’ve had in 6 weeks.

Just keeping an eye on the river though as it’s pretty full now with park benches 6ft into the river and we’re not much higher than the bank either.Les mer

Last camp Calais. Left a very wet Boullion after a nice walk up to the castle which was unfortunately closed so couldn’t venture to far in. This would be a lovely spot in summer though, and the river won’t be quite as close to us as it was last night, almost twice its normal width. After Boullion next stop was to be our camp tonight in the marina at Peruwelz. Yet another very nice setting but we arrived earlier than expected so after a 17 mile walk decided to carry on and park up nearer the tunnel.Les mer
