After cresting the Pine Mountain Summit at 1pm, we had 60 km to go, and 1500 m of potential energy to use. With a 6% grade and wide radius corners we were able to go ~40-50 km/hr for about 20 minutes straight, which certainly puts a perma-grin on your face. We were winding down a creek valley past interesting rock formations, desert vegetation and then canyon walls. After a tiny bit of uphill pedalling we dropped into the next drainage and again just soared down the hills, even catching up to a truck through some tunnel sections.
