    Summer day in the Arctic

    June 6, 2020 in Norway ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Saturdays for sure was a beautiful day starting in the Channel, which was a very calm, peaceful and super charming in the morning. We had midnight sun, rain, lots of clouds and sunshine again 🌞 The wind didn't pick up much, so our luck varried, as we did sometime between 0.3 to 7.5knots in one day. After the girls night Jenka went to wake up everyone and never returned 😴😴 guess the cabin was just to comfortable, so I had a peaceful morning for myself. Basic boat life, caught a cod fish to supply tasty lunch, had at least 2 cups of cappuchino, and enjoyed the weather, which was amazing, at 6am was already 15 deegres and it was only getting warmer. Soon it was time to get the bikini out and sunbath in the bow, and every now and then I checked the charts trying not to run Solenya on the rocks 😅 After all the coffee, sunshine and some good tunes, I couldn't hold my excitement any longer and around 10am I decided to wake everyone up. We all enjoyed the sun and the never ending Arctic views. At one point in the afternoon there was just no wind, so for me that can only mean one thing, its time to get the fishing rod out. At first I caught a small cod fish, but soon after a real treasure hooked on. It was quite funny, as I just said wow I wish one day to catch a big Halibut. At first it felt unbelievable and a struggle, as my rod lost some screws (this must be Ronans doing although he still doesn't admit 🤔😂) but anyways the reel was not functioning the best, but after around a 15 mins fight we started to see something slowly coming up to the surface. At this moment I saw my biggest catch and I couldn't hold my excitement anymore, like a little kid I started screaming and jumping as I saw a Huuuuge Halibut. I think I should attach some part of the video, so you can all see 😂 Well as you can all imagine this beast barely fit into the boat and made a huge mess, we planned to go for a swim the whole day, so to celebrate the moment with Jenka we jumped in the water. Brrrr can't say it was not cold, but we are getting more and more use to it. Finally we got some wind again ⛵⛵ Saturday felt like a real summer day after the long and sometimes cold winter days, it was a real treat. Of course we will eat Halibut for days, as it weight 11kg. Nevertheless, fresh fish can never get boring, we had some fried and tomorrow we plan to make a tasty fish soup. After an exciting day I had to catch up on some sleep, so the others started the night watch, around 2am I woke up to the stunning views of Lofoten and I knew it was time to change shift and enjoy the midnight sun. Anyways, thats a new day and another story to tell.Read more
