I. AFR/ZA - 3. WE, Wein/Agulhas/Wal (1)

Dieses Wochenende stand ganz unter dem Motto "Wein & Wale" und es ging bis zum Cape Agulhas - dem südlichsten Punkt Afrikas, an dem sich der indische und der atlantische Ozean treffen:

Hier der 1. Teil bzw. Samstag:

- Kayamandi/Overberg region
Hier hatten wir eine geführte Tour durch das
Armenviertel - eigentlich halte ich von solchen
Touren nicht so viel, es war aber okay und die
Bewohner sehr stark daran gewöhnt.

- Stellenbosch & Paarl / Cape Winelands
Die Weinregionen sind super schön und wir hatten
zwei Weinproben:
(1) Wein- und Schokoladenverkostung @ Muratie,
Stellenbosch (3 St)
(2) Wein- und Käseverkostung @ Fairview, Paarl
(6 St)
War beides super lecker und die südafrikanischen
Weine sind sehr zu empfehlen ;)

- Franschhoek
Kleines Städtchen mit weißen Häusern und
typisch afrikanischen Märkten

- Cape Agulhas
Hier kamen wir genau richtig, um beide Ozeane
noch im hellen zu sehen und dann einen
unglaublich schönen Sonnenuntergang zu genießen :)

Da am Samstag in ZA ein Feiertag war ("Public Holiday"), gab es abends im Hostel ein typisch afrikanisches Grillen inkl. Lamm/Schwein/Huhn mit Brot und Salat sowie Marshmallows am Lagerfeuer :)

This weekend was all about "Wine & Whale" and I travelled all the way down to Cape Agulhas - the most southern tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.

Herewith the first part or Saturday:

- Kayamandi / Overberg region
We had a guided township culture tour -
something I wanted to avoid but it was okay and
the people seemed to be used to it.

- Stellenbosch & Paarl / Cape Winelands
Driving through the wine regions was so nice and
we had two wine tastings:
(1) Wine tasting and chocolate pairing @ Muratie,
Stellenbosch (3p)
(2) Wine tasting and cheese pairing @ Fairview,
Paarl (6p)
It was a nice and tasty experience and I can
definitely recommend South-African wines ;)

- Franschhoek
Nice little town with white houses and typical
African markets

- Cape Agulhas
This was perfect timing: we could still see both
oceans during daytime and then enjoyed an
incredibly stunning sunset :)

As on Saturday there was a public holiday in ZA ("Heritage Day") we had a typical African barbecue at our hostel, including lamb/pork/chicken with bread and salad as well as marshmallows on the campfire :)Read more
