We stayed here 2 nights so we could explore a little bit.
Our site was on the Lake outlet, which had walking and cycle access into the town. We chose to walk as the path went all along the lake side.
We stopped of at the Wanaka Lake beach for an hour to take in the sunshine and catch up with our reading. After lunch we walked further round the lake to a winery for a tasting. We climbed up from the lake side through the vineyards to the tasting rooms which had great views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
After that we returned to Wanaka for a general walkabout prior to returning to our site . All in all 20km plus of walking which we greatly enjoyed.
We earned our dinner which was bbqed on the camp kitchen.Read more
