    Day 5. Schwäbisch Hall.
    Jurgen Elsser gave as a detailed tour of the town and it's history. It was better than any tour we have paid for in the past. It was not only free but he took us home and fed us.
    The town is in the heart of Hohenlohe-Franken near Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg. It was founded in 1156 and also had an own currency called the "Haller Heller". They had their own currency was called Taler (large silver piece) and Batzen (small nickel piece).
    The wealth and the importance of the Schwäbisch Hall was founded on salt. The old saltmaker's town is dissected by the river Kocher. It has a partially preserved town wall, many towers, roofed wooden bridges, a huge number of stairs and 'stäffele' or stair-like lanes, as well as nearly unchanged medieval lanes.
