Rio de Janeiro

The most scenic and visually striking place we have arrived into between Christ the Redeemer, 2 brothers mountains and the Sugarloaf.

We enjoyed Carnival season here with more street parties/blocos. We hiked for 2 hours through the jungle, uphill and rock climbing to the top of Christ the Redeemer (1 of the 7 wonders of the world). We part hiked, part cable carried up to the top of the Sugarloaf (the largest granite rock in the world - with Guatape, Colombia the 2nd) where we got a view of the Rio de Janeiro harbour (1 of the 7 natural wonders of the world). We also took a tour of the favelas and walked the famous Selaron steps. Staying at Ipanema for half of our time and Copacabana for the other half, we also cycled the stretch of the coast along several beaches.Read more
