    Day 498: Drottningholm Palace

    June 27, 2018 in Sweden ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

There's three world heritage sites in and around Stockholm, so we got back to work. First up today was Drottningholm Palace, main residence of the Swedish royal family for the last several hundred years, right through until today! We caught two metros and then a bus out to the palace, where the flag was flying so we assumed they were at home, catching up on Netflix or something probably.

It's a beautiful looking palace, very much inspired by Versailles though apparently the interior isn't particularly spectacular. I say apparently since we'd opted not to go inside as it was quite expensive, and we've seen rather a lot of Renaissance-inspired palaces! We did quite enjoy wandering the gardens though, particularly the "Chinese pavilion" which was built in the 19th century by someone I'm quite sure had never been to China!

Back to Stockholm in the early afternoon where I forked out 180 euros to visit the GP for more epilepsy medication. Free health care is such a great concept.
