    The arrival in cambridge

    April 18, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

At our hole day trip towards London happend many thinks. We startet in Schaffhausen with 10 people, but in Zurich de 11th luckily had the chance to go on the next train and join us in Zurich. We thought, that we only would have around to hours in paris. We walked a bit around and discovered a church, the typical houses and the metro. After that, we stayed in the queue for the check in and the safety check. After an our of waiting, we've realised, it takes a lot longer than expected. An 10 minutes later we became the message, that there is a fault in their software. Because of this we expected to wait two more hours, but luckily we departed only one hour later. The we drove with the first class to London and after that with a normal train to our home destination cambridge. My hostfamily is very kind and it's a little lovely house nearby a big parc.Read more

My really good relationship with busses

    April 19, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

After a not so bad sleep. I ate breakfast. There was a big choice of food. I heard already, that the busses aren't that good in this city. There aren't fix times because of the pandemic, but they guarante, that every 20 minutes there should drive one. I waited a bit more than 30 min. The school is very beautiful. But sadly they put us in a class, were we learnt stuff, which we've already learnt in primary school. After the school we had a short trip through the city, we waited around 40 minutes. After comming home and eating the chicken burger. I wanted to go back to the city. This bus luckily arrived nearly punktually. But after a few stops the bus got stuck because there were two car owners who can't parc. So we had to walk the other 5 km. After beeing out, the bus luckily came punctually. But i want to say, that my normal place at the first floor in the front is very nice, because of the view on the left sided traffic.Read more

    1st Week in Cambridge

    April 24, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

In this Week we walked a lot around the city. After 2 days here in Cambridge I gave up trying to rent a bike. I' must been 18 and it would be very expensive. We explored the universitys, the castle hill, which is higher than expected and many other beautiful sights. On thursday i got ill. But after drinking a lot if ginger tea and sleeping the hole day, I was able to go to the school the next day again. On saturday we went to London, a very nice and big city. And luckily, the puplic transport works there a lot better than in Cambridge. The next day, we went into the Botanic Garden. I've never seen that many plants at one day. All in all it was a very nice week living in a very green city with a nice family. Only the food could be criticised a bit. I ate chips nearly every evening. And the sausage snack which you can see on a picture below only contains 60 percent of meat.Read more

I literaly have to run just around 1km and I'm at the Cam and outside the city. It's a very beautiful river with many birds. There are many people rowing. There has been always a battle between the oxford and cambridge universitys.Read more

    Last week in Cambridge

    May 5, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

After videocalling my family, I was a little homesick. But I also wanted to enjoy my last days here in Cambridge. On Monday, we had school until 5 o clock, because they booked us lessons for our arrival day, when we logically can't go to school. That was also the reason, we were the only students who had school on friday afternoons. On Tuesday we sneaked in the Kings College, which should be closed for tourists like us. This is a big campus with beautiful buildings. We saw a group of little kids with suits and cylinders. All of them had to follow a teacher. This moment reminded me on Harry Potter, especially as on of them took his cilynder of and looked exactly like Draco Malfoy. On wednesday I we wanted to go playing pool, as every evening. But after waiting over 1h and 15min on my bus to go home, I realised that I wont be able to go to the city again. Because my busride takes 30 minutes. At this day, we went punting. We saw many bridges and heard many stories about the universitys we were floating by. Aftrr playing pool on our last evening in Cambridge, I spent my last pounds in the biggest grocery store I've ever been in. There was more than a ca ten meter long shelf only with chips. But with less vegetables than in the migros.Read more

    Departure day

    May 6, 2022 in France ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

After saying good bye to my host family and to Poppy at 7 o clock, a taxi came and took me to the trainstation. We went to London and without any problems to Paris. I just hadn't any time, to spend my last pound, which I've found to late in my pocket. In Paris we had that much time that we could go to the eiffel tower. We had to change tho metro at the notre dame which was also really beautiful. The only bad thing were the big amount of stairs in the metro. After our visit at half past 6 pm our tgv departed. We had many fun on our trip. If I'd go again there, I'd pick the train again. I was back home shortly before twelve a clock but in british time it would be eleven a clock.Read more

    Back home

    May 8, 2022 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

I really enjoyed my stay in Cambridge. It was a really beautiful city with many parcs, old college buildings and the river cam with a lots of nature near my home. My host family was also very kind. There is only one little thing. I ate to much chips. Every second dinner includes some chips. One positive thing about the language school was the building. It looked really beautiful from the outside. I also had one funny teacher with a very british humor who hated the queen and Boris Johnson. But in the first two weeks I learnt nearly nothing. I was in way to easy class and I hadn't the permission to change. Not because of my english skills, the only reason was the amount of german speaking people in this school. But after I finally could change the class in the last week I spoke more english and less swiss german. Because in the first class many people weren't able to speak fluently. We also hadn't that much free time. And our school had very strict rules. For example we had to be at home every day at 10 o clock. But if the bus at home takes 36 minutes and my average waiting time on the bus is around 20 minutes (two times over an hour) there wasn't that much time left. I was really lucky, that my hostparents trusted me and let me staying out a bit longer.
I'm not sure how much i could improve my english skills, because of the school. But I realised that I'm able to speak way better english than I've expected. The only time I wasn't able to express a sentence was on my first evening there, were i forgot the word jam.
To sum up it was a really great experience to be in a really new country.
