Weekend in South Luangwa national park

    July 15, 2017 in Zambia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

After our day in Chobe national park I thought I had enough of safaris already, but when Wolfram, who was putting me up in Chipata, offered that we'd go to South Luangwa for the weekend, which would be my last days in Zambia, I couldn't say no :)
On the way we stopped by Tribal Textiles, which produce natural hand-made painted cotton cloth and make nice sewn household items... a bit overpriced to my taste but everybody seems to be happy to work there.

We stayed at the Marula Lodge in Mfuwe, very nice place nearby the park entrance, on the river full of crocs and hippos, with a nice swimming pool and relaxed feel...
I was happy to be able to do a "walking safari", or rather a "bush walk", a really different experience than these game drives where safari cars gather around a wild creature in order for the tourists to take the best possible shot of it and then brag about it...
And we had the best sunset drink ever on Sunday evening on the river shore. Alne with the hippos and the sun going down to the river... The park is a beautiful place.
