    Homeward Bound!

    September 16, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

My flight from Barcelona has been delayed. I'm hanging in the living room at the hostel (where I have power and wifi.) I canceled my flight home from Los Angeles for tonight and my daughter Adrienne who lives in LA will fetch me. I will spend the night at her place, then fly home at some point on Tuesday. Waiting to see what her schedule is. Other than that minor extension of the trip, there is always the chance of further extensions because of my standby status with the airline. But - as of this moment, that's the plan. Into LAX tonight, home tomorrow (Tuesday.) Et finis.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I'm definitely going to do more of 'the ways.'

    Transition day in Barcelona

    September 15, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Had to get to Barcelona on Sunday for my flight home on Monday. Found my hostel, got settled in then off to explore. Took the hop-on/hop-off tour bus. Got off for awhile at the beach. No matter how I squinted my eyes I couldn't find anything I recognized from my wild party days here in 1976. They refurbished the whole area a couple of times since them, most notably and recently for the 1990s Olympics held here.

Anyway, a few pics from my day. My hostel, the beach, a random building by Gaudi. There is plenty to do here, another visit goes onto my list. Rhiannon is here a lot on layovers... I will meet her for one soon!

    Last goodbye in Santiago

    September 14, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Nancy and I got back from our bus trip and sought cold beers and dinner. Then we went to
hug St. James. We were getting into the line and some women slid under the ropes to jump the line. We jokingly were like "Hey! Cheating!" and then realized it was the long lost other four people from our Vegas group. Miracle of St. James.

I took Nancy to see where she will see the shadow of the pilgrim, it wasn't quite dark enough. I saw it, picture is of Jackie. That one really is a weird miracle-like thing. I mean, there is no real reason for it to cast that shadow if you are there to examine it.

Anyway, Nancy and I were the last remaining in Santiago, I think. So we had the last goodbye.

Bus trip to Finisterre (end of earth)

    September 14, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Some people walk it - I liked the looks of the way. Maybe next year. Nancy and I took a tourist bus for an enjoyable day that included a small fishing village, a wonderful waterfall, some local interest and, of course, the point at the end of the world.Read more

    Las Vegas represented.

    September 13, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Last gathering with team Vegas, before dinner. At the Las Vegas bar.
Pictured from Left to right Nancy, Susan, Cathi, Deb, John, Jackie.

(Still seated at the table behind were Helga from Germany and Cath and Carmel, sisters from Brisbane (friends of Jackie's.) Taking the photo was Diana from Bristol (who was traveling with Nancy.)

(Four other Vegasans that were part of our planning but who decided to take the Camino Frances were meant to meet us for this but we missed that connection. Then, Nancy and I bumped into them in the line to hug the saint the next afternoon. A miracle of St. James

Padras. As in the peppers. That is all.

    September 12, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

The "rule" is, when you see a place where you can take your shoes off and soak your feet, do it. So these old medieval laundromats (ok creative license) are meant for this activity. I have other pics of us at others along the way, but here's one from this day.Read more
