    Cala mitjana and beyond...

    Well what a great day! We had a splendid breakfast before heading back to Es Mercadal to pick up our GF Ensaimada (traditional chocolate pastry!)... and then we set off on the Cami de Cavalls heading East towards Cala Mitjana. The walk was mainly walking through lovely scented pine forest... with lots more wildflowers and birds en route. We stopped for a little sunbathe on Cala Mitjana before heading onward to Cala Trebaluger. The sea was still rolling in when we got there... but was a great spot for a picnic. To get to the beach we had to clamber through a cave. We chatted to a nice couple who helped us identify the nightingale song we had been listening to en route... and then lo and behold, on the way back one presented itself for us to see! We had a great walk home... stopping for more sunbathing and beers on the beach, and ice creams back in Cala Galdana. We also tried our EnSaimada and it was incredible.... sort of like brioche with chocolate spread. We spent the afternoon chilling, birdwatching and meandering round the local garden centre.
