    Ottawa is awesome!

    Sat waiting for food after a brilliant day. Up early after a reasonable night in the cell, except for some annoyingly late and noisy arrivals at 1am. We bimbled along the Rideau canal before queuing for free guided tour tickets for Parliament for an hour. The pageantry of the changing of the guard was brilliant to see in front of Parliament. Trekking in the sunshine, we went down to the Canadian war museum, and encountered a beaver en route ☺ The Canadians clearly feel strongly about their contributions to WW1, with presentations on Vimy & Beaumont Hamel on the Somme. Back towards Parliament Hill for a tour of the Canadian Supreme Court, before a cheeky frozen lemonade from our first Tim Horton's which, while appreciated in the heat, gave us terrible brain freeze! Then a tour of the Canadian Parliament which was an odd cross between British tradition and American furnishings within the chambers. I got a souvenir Canadian Parliament puck for my classroom 😊 Then Royal Canadian Mint, where we held a gold bar worth four times as much as our house as well as seeing $360m of gold just lying around waiting to be turned into coins.
