Mont Royal and the Beluga Whale

    July 31, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

After regaining our composure following the climb, we took in the view over the city from the Kondiaronk platform and enjoyed a walk through the park, which seemed a world away from the hustle and heat of Montreal. The cross of Montreal, standing 40m high on the Mont, sounds religious but looked more Vegas...nonetheless impressive though. Coming down the Mont was definitely easier than going up! We had a well deserved cafe stop at the bottom, for frozen lemonade and to plan the rest of the day. The Redpath Museum at McGill University promised dinosaurs, so we put on our stout walking feet and headed out. The fossils there were brilliant, including a triceratops called Sara and, Ben's favourite, a beluga whale, amongst many many others. We then hoped to watch Antigang as part of the Fantasia Film Festival but the 400-ish people queuing in blazing sun disappointed us. So, instead, we headed to the Fine Arts Museum where we saw, amongst other things, Napoleon's hat! For dinner, we took advantage of the Sunday offer at 3 Amigos of just 89 cents a taco, before retiring to the hotel for a pit stop. Now resting up before an evening of Shakespeare and film noir.Read more
