  • Day 26

    Ontario State Legislature

    August 20, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Another early start this morning and we began with a complimentary continental breakfast which was a pleasant surprise. First on the day's to-do list was the Ontario State Legislature, our last political visit. Arriving as security unlocked the door, we were fortunate enough to be the only ones on the 9am tour. The building was beautiful at 150 years old and we were told about the history of Ontario and Canada before viewing the legislative chamber. The flags outside were at half mast due to the very recent passing of a member of the chamber.

We then needed to make a break across town, and given the return of blinding heat and the distance, we resorted to the metro and streetcars (a fine mode of transport but second preference to walking!). We were headed to the Prince's Gate to watch the Warrior's Day parade of veterans and the like.
