    Holyhead Port

    August 17, 2021 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

In the port itself, there were some fabulous buildings that has clearly been left to ruin. Government House and Soldiers Point used to belong to civil engineers apparently who constructed the 2.4km breakwater - the longest in the UK. Government House also became the HQ of RAF Holyhead. Both had sadly been boarded up and were collapsing which was a real shame given their evident beauty.

We picked up the Anglesey Coastal Path and headed put into the purple heather to climb towards the lighthouse.
