The route we were following up was the Cam Real. At the top of the path marked on Google, there was a short break before a different path continued (which I thought, mistakenly, would be downhill...). The path became a proper hiking path, well trodden but rough and loose stone underfoot. But as we wended mountainside paths, passing cacti that were significantly taller than we were, the scenery was breathtaking. Tall, jagged mountain ridges covered in a variety of towering cacti and colourful flowers, with small residences tucked away - it'd be a challenge if you ran out of milk here!
