    Chilliwack, BC

    July 24, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Crossed the border into Canada at Sumas July 18th and as usual got the third degree. They always think we’re going to sell the Coach here. They didn’t look through the coach otherwise they would have realised we had way too much stuff to get rid of if we were selling.
Anyway we spent the weekend watching the British Open and shopping. We needed to stock up on beer, wine and whisky as we could not bring much into Canada from the US.
Today, Tuesday we visited the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve and although too late to see the 100 pairs nesting in the cottonwoods we saw a few feeding in the lagoons. The trails were really interesting with marshes and streams where salmon will spawn in a couple of months time. Frogs were calling and we saw a few on the trail. Also saw evidence of beavers, but no sightings. Great views of Cheam Mountains with snow patches from the Tower Trail. Interesting visitor centre, plant in pictures are pretty but are all invasive species, although we did enjoy the blackberries which we on all the trails. Weather was hot in the 90s F.
