    Best nightlife spots in Georgetown

    July 14, 2017 in India ⋅ ⛅ 35 °C

Georgetown’s after-dark spots cater to all party-goers: nightclubs that have unique features like Vegas-style burlesque shows and flamboyant bartenders, exclusive bars where you can show off your latest Coach clutch, and dance spots with roaring parties playing the latest party anthems. No matter your music, DJ, or cocktail preference, you will find our guide to be an all-rounder, with a list of posh bars to see and be seen at, and even funky discos with fantastic music soundtracks. Traveling in Malaysia is quite convenient since it has some major bus terminals and express buses are the preferred mode of transport here. The Press
Located along Lebuh Chulia, The Press Rooftop Bar is a posh, two-storey nightclub that is one of Penang’s current best places to see and be seen at. Downstairs it is a small, intimate space done up primarily with lots of golden dark wood – wooden wall paneling, wood-topped tables and wooden bar stools; the music policy here is a mix of techno, R&B, hip hop and soul. Upstairs, the rooftop is an open air-space featuring a mix of seating styles: there are cabana-like booths with white linen curtains to provide privacy, and simple high tables and chairs closer to the edge (with high railings making sure you don’t fall over). Drinks-wise you will find the usual selection of cocktails, wines, and beers, and all reasonably priced too.

    Boom Boom Chambre
Located on a piece of prime real estate along Upper Penang Road, the flashy two-storey Boom Boom Chambre is a Vegas-style nightclub that is equal parts fun and funny. The only adult revue in Penang, it is famous for its Vegas-style cabaret drag queen shows from Wednesday to Saturday nights, where theatrical lounge-singing, exaggerated dance moves and a good dose of sizzling sex appeal are the order of the day. Performers try to engage the audience as much as possible so if you are the type who gets easily flustered, stay towards the back of the room or else you might just get pulled up on the stage by one of them.
