    Flagstaff Maritime Village

    February 25 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

James and I spent a couple of hours wandering here today. Different to many others with a maritime theme and very picturesque.
In the afternoon Caz and I played Ticket to Ride. After tea we did another long walk. Lots of that happening.
Callie is doing lots of wandering and chilling out 😊

Bike ride, Point Ritchie, Hopkins River

    February 24 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

This morning Caz and I headed to the Backpackers to hire bikes, or poor excuses for bikes! Squeaky, terrible brakes, no gears and ghastly seats. Still, for $15 for 2 hours - we still complained! Having signed a waiver we expected the bikes to be safe. Nonetheless off we went along the promenade bike path to Granny's Grave and Point Ritchie. With our own bikes, or better bikes, we would have gone further.
We made it there and back but our bum comfort was definitely compromised 😊.
After lunch we all went for a drive to Point Ritchie and across Hopkins Bridge to the whale watching platform. No whales, wrong time of year, but we caught a hang glider taking off. We had a quick look at the lovely and historic Proudfoots Boathouse. Then back to camp to relax.

    February 23 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

    Wind, sun, beach & drama

    February 22 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

If course it's windy. It's Warrnambool, so Callie's not happy. She'd like to get into the vegetation near us but for now she's staying put.
I did a short walk to the Info Centre at Flagstaff Hill so will look at our options. Swimming is out. Oh yes, drama. Big rescue helicopter and boat definitely looking for something off the beach. It has finally gone quiet so who knows what was happening.Read more

    All set up at Warrnambool.

Do you think our site is big enough? Social distancing means just our two sites instead of five, win, win.

    Drive to Red Rock Lookout

    February 20 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Circular drive to view the volcanic area from Red Rock Lookout, Lake Corangamite (which can be 3 times saltier than the ocean and Lake Beeac which is white with salt. We now have neighbours but Callie thinks they're ok. Took more photos on my camera than the phone 😟, sorry.Read more

    Coffee, Hot dogs etc

    February 20 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

There are people who said this park isn't up to scratch but that depends what you want from a small rural town. The ensuite sites are old but functional, there are drive through sites. We have the creek on one side, Colac Lake on the other, a bird refuge one end and a Botanic Gardens on the other with a fabulous playground. Many families there last having lots of fun. There is a jetty, a boat ramp, a permanent coffee van and a hot dog van. What more could you want? Oh, a walk to town through parkland right next to the Info Centre, a brand new Coles and great public facilities. Rant overRead more

    Caltex Little River

    February 19 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Don't stop at this one again. Another big newer BP 10 ks further on.
Quick stop for lunch. Big area on the left coming in that is paved. Memorial to Matthew Flinders. Dirt part very bumpy. Otherwise go right around the back, which is not huge and hope for a long spot. About 20ks before Geelong.Read more
