    Day 1 in Gdańsk, Poland

    January 19, 2019 in Poland ⋅ ⛅ 0 °C

I landed in Gdańsk at around 12pm and went to get a local bus. Whilst waiting at the bus stop a Polish girl approached me and started talking to me. She asked where I was from and gave me some advice for expling Gdańsk. She also gave me the heads up that today was the mayors' funeral (he was stabbed to death a week ago). I was surprised at how friendly she was because slavic people are not the most warm.

It was too early to check in when I reached the city centre at 1pm. So I left my suitcase and decided to go and find lunch. I went to a small local café and ate some meat pierogi. The café was run by old people who didn't speak much English but they tried their best to communicate with me.

By the time I was finished it was time to check in. So I put my luggage down and went out again to explore. I wandered around the water and then went to eat some Żurek (rye soup with egg and sausage). After this I went to the world war 2 museum.

This was the best museum I have ever visited in my life. Nothing is sugar coated...they go in to so much detail. It is also very sad and I had to walk away from some displays. Hearing about what the Germans and Russians did to Poland was too much.
