US Liberty Wreck

Today I dove to "Tulamben" in the morning.
There you can find the WWII shipwreck of the "US Liberty". Which got shoot down with an torpedo by the Japanese! With help of "Mt Agung" which always thrones in the back over everything here. It was 1963 when he erupted und the lava and volcano stones and ash sort of extended the beach right to the wreck!
I was pretty excited to see a real shipwreck. Just a short swim of the beach. But once there the condition were a little rough. Nevertheless the black volcano stone beach looked pretty awesome already.
And if you could manage to get in the water it was actually fairly calm! The wreck is even already covered with a fair bit of corals! And of course lots of fish around, they swam even right up to you.
In the evening I tried to find the "Lionfish" at the "Jemulak Beach", again! After I saw one yesterday but didn't take a Camera with me - stupid me (happened twice now)!
Then it hit me at first I saw my first "Stingray" which was even a "Blue spotted Stingray"- Really cool!
Further on after the obligatory cool "normal" stuff, behind a rock I found a "Anemone". That's right- there were something with "Nemo" and "Anemones". In there were four "Clownfish" living! I played a little while with them.
With the sun going down behind "Mt Agung" and already frozzen my hope died pretty much to see the "Lionfish". As I tied to find the Stingray again. On the way with pure luck I finally saw the "White-lined Lionfish". It took a while because he always tied to hide under the corals but I stayed around and could get a few glimpses on it! I think they are one of the best fish around!
An all in all successful snorkeling day goes to an end. Despite the overfishing of the sea I go for fish for dinner, now.

Heute ging es zum schnorcheln nach "Tulamben". Dort kann man das Amerikanische WWII Schiffswrack der "US Liberty" finden. Diese wurde von einem Japanischen torpedo getroffen. Mit der Hilfe von dem, hier überallem thronenden, "Mt Agung" und dessen Voulkanausbruch im Jahre 1963 welcher mit Lava, Steine und Asche den Stand quasi bis zum Schiffswrack erweitert hat. Kann man heute bequem vom Stand dorthin schwimmen.
Ich war schon ziemlich aufgeregt als ich den schwarzem Stein Stand gesehen habe, jedoch war heute recht rauer Seegang. Aber wenn man es dann ins Wasser geschafft hatte war es eigentlich recht human.
Ziemlich atemberaubend ein echtes Schiffswrack zu sehen. Außerdem war es schon recht gut mit Korallen bedeckt. Natürlich waren auch wieder sehr viele Fische dort, welche auch direckt zu einem hingeschwommen sind!
Am Abend ging es dann mal wieder zum "Jemulak Beach" wo ich gestern schon einen "Lionfish" gesehn hatte - aber unglücklicherweise zum zweiten mal schon keine Kamera mitgenommen hatte!
Was mit eher geringen Erwartungen anfing entwickelte sich ziemlich gut!
Zuerst kam mir gleich mal mein erster "Stingray" unter. Dieser war auch gleich noch ein "Blue spotted Stingray"- Super geil!
Nach einigerzeit später hinter einem Felsen fand ich eine "Anemone" - "Richtig" da war doch was mit "Nemo" und "Anemonen". In dieser habe ich vier " Clownfische" gefunden. Nach kuzem rumspielen mit ihnen. Und dem Sonnenuntergang hinter "Mt Agung" fielen meine Hoffnungen gegen Null noch einen "Lionfish" zu sehen. Doch am weg zum Stand, vorbei um nochmal vieleicht den Stingray zu sehen, habe ich mit purem Zufall doch noch einen "White-lined Lionfish" gefunfen!
Ich finde einer der besten fische zum sehen, aber auch hochgiftig. Der hat auch noch fleißig versucht sich vor mir zu verstecken aber schussentlich könnte ich ein paar blicke erhaschen.
Ein recht erfolgreicher Schnorchel-Tag geht zu Ende. Trotz der überfischung der Meere gibt es jetzt standardgemäß Fisch zum Abendessen.Read more
