    Hiking, waterfalls, and Devils Tower

    July 18, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Today was amazing, yet exhausting! We got up early and headed to Custer state park. We hiked 7 miles to Black Elk peak. It was a strenuous hike,, but worth it! We met a couple on the hike down that were 77 years old. They said they had sold their house 5 years ago and travel in their truck camper. We call them “the teachers”. They were more In shape than Brad and I put together. Brad hurt his knee on the hike. His new nickname is “wounded knee”. After the hike, we were starving! We ate at Bumpin Buffalo in hill city, SD. It was delish! We continued to roughlock falls, spearfish falls, and bridal veil falls. (Why are all the falls names Bridal?) we continued on to Wyoming to Devils tower. We walked around the tower on the trail. Devils tower was the first national monument declared by president Roosevelt. Our campsite is amazing. We have a clear view of Devils tower and took much needed showers. Tonight we will sleep well!Read more
