    Windy day

    October 24, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

When we woke up this morning, we knew we had found the right spot last night - great sunrise over Lake Isabella! We started early as we had a long day ahead of us. It was going to get pretty windy (up to about 40km/h, South East so in the direction we were heading to 😕) and more of 2000m climbing again.
After about 10km, we had a quick stop at a supermarket to get ready with a latte and a second breakfast. We passed Silver City Ghost Town and then the rolling climb with heads winds started. We almost ran out of water and had to fight hard against the wind, the heat (up to 37°C), the elevation gain (up to 12%) and even some trucks on the Freeway (again) in order to make it to Keene Cafe before it closed at 3pm. Luckily, we made it at 2.50pm. Afterwards, it was another 20km of climbing and headwinds into Tehachapi, a town with an historic center. There, our host John picked us up and took us to their beautiful home in Stallion Springs where we enjoyed the sunset view and looked at many exciting photos with him and his wife Liz.
