Argentinien…. Wo beginne ich? Am besten mit den Leuten, die hier ebenfalls extrem nett und hilfsbereit sind. Viele haben es sicher nicht leicht, aber verlieren ihre gute Laune darüber nicht. Bestes Beispiel: Der Mann aus Mendoza am Flughafen von Buenos Aires. Ich will am Automaten eine Flasche Wasser kaufen, 300 Pesos. Habe nur einen 500 Pesos Schein. Akzeptiert der Automat nicht. Hätte also dort kein Wasser bekommen. Er drückt mir 300 Pesos in die Hand, will auch nicht einfach nur meinen 500er wechseln, alles gut so. Wo ich herkomne und er wünscht mir noch ne gute Reise. 😃
Als Tourist ist man etwas irritiert über die Schwierigkeiten mit dem Geld abheben und generell beim Bezahlen.
Gestern noch problemlos mit Kreditkarte im Supermarkt gezahlt, wird dieselbe Karte an derselben Kasse am nächsten Tag nicht mehr akzeptiert.
Flugbuchungen ebenso: einmal funktioniert die Kartenzahlung bei JetSmart, eine Woche später werden 2 Kredikarten und zwei Debitkarten abgelehnt. Dumm nur, wenn es die einzige Fluglinie ist, die den gewollten Flug anbietet.
An Geldautomaten: Entweder du landest an einem Automaten, der dir im letzten von 6 Schritten die Karte wieder ausspuckt mit der Info, du willst zu viel abheben. Also wieder von vorn und so arbeitet man sich langsam betragsmäßig nach unten, bis einem erlaubt wird, den Gegenwert von knapp 20 Euro abzuheben. Mit Gebühr natürlich. Und das darf man dann aber so oft machen, wie man will. Oder, man (ich) braucht 2 Tage vor Abreise noch ein paar Tausend Pesos und tippt, ganz erfahren dieses Mal, gleich die niedrigste Summe ein. Na, erratet ihr’s? Die Meldung lautet, sorry, du willst zu wenig Geld abheben, versuch’s nochmal. Dieses mal heisst es also: hocharbeiten. 🙄
Uber hat hier für mich auch gar nicht funktioniert. Wenn bestellt, haben die gleich geschrieben, ob man in Dollar zahlen kann. Hab natürlich keine. Fahrten wurden dann gleich mal storniert oder der Fahrer kam gar nicht erst.
Fremdwährungen mit Kredikarten kann man bspw. bei Western Union auch nicht mehr durchführen, seit einiger Zeit gestrichen.
Für mich existiert noch so ein Ding, was mich persönlich nervt. Egal ob im Restaurant, Café, drinnen/draussen, Bus, Flughafen oder sonst wo: man schaut laut. Der Mute-Modus oder Kopfhörer werden so gut wie nicht verwendet. Also, tief durchatmen und ignorieren versuchen.
Ambivalent mein Verhältnis zu den Toiletten in den Unterkünften hier. Manche machen mir Angst (siehe Fotos), manche sind lustig, da die Klobrille aus so einer Art fluffigen Schaumstoff besteht, die zusammenpufft, wenn man sich draufsetzt. Die sind total bequem und würden im Winter sicher auch nicht so kalt sein. Übrigens verspielst du in BRA und ARG all dein gutes Karma, wenn du das benutzte Toilettenpapier ins WC wirfst. Das muss in einen separaten Behälter.
Nett ist auch, dass man bei den Flughafen-Sicherheitschecks einfach so Getränke mitnehmen kann, auch eine 2 Liter Wasserflasche. Einfach so!Und man klatscht nach der Landung und feiert den Piloten. Außerhalb der Saison fliegt man im Zickzack, Direktverbindungen existieren entlang der Westküste quasi nicht. Die Entfernungen sind auch mal eine ganz andere Dimension als bei uns. Ihr fahrt gerne 25 Stunden oder länger Bus? Kommt her und lebt euch aus.
Die Busse in Buenos Aires und auch anderswo: Nummern und Routen sind draussen am Bus aufgemalt. Nicht so elektronische Anzeigen wie bei uns und jeder Bus kann quasi jede Strecke fshren. Nee, da hat noch jede Route ihre eigenen Busse! 😉
Alte und Leute mit Kindern werden ohne großes Aufheben an vielen Stellen einfach nach vorne an die Schlange geholt. Cool.
Tango gibt es in Buenos Aires, vor allem am Wochenende, wirklich an jeder zweiten Ecke.
In verschiedenen Städten wird an die “30,000” erinnert mit “nunca mas” (niemals wieder). Die Madres de Plaza de Mayo („Mütter des Platzes der Mairevolution“) ist eine Organisation argentinischer Frauen, deren Kinder unter der Militärdiktatur von 1976 bis 1983 unter zunächst ungeklärten Umständen “verschwanden“. Ein Gesetz schützte die Militärvertreter, welches inzwischen aufgehoben wurde. Die Gruppe ist bis heute aktiv und hat mit anderen dazu beigetragen durchgesetzt, dass das “Verschwinden lassen” als Strafbestand des Völkerrechts mit aufgenommen wurde.
Harter Schnitt: Wisst ihr, warum der Pazifik Pazifik heisst? Weil als Magellan den Südzipfel umsegelt hatte, er mehrere Wochen Schönes, ruhiges Wetter hatte. Also heisst der Ozean jetzt “pacifico” (friedlich, ruhig). Konnten seine Matrosen auf der Rückfahrt nur mehr drüber lachen, da war dann nix mehr friedlich.
Und ja, Messi & Maradona sowie der Pabst sind allgegenwärtig. In ungefähr der gleichen Wichtigkeit. Schön, dass ARG den letzten Goldpokal gewonnen hat, wurde mal wieder Zeit und war sooo wichtig für alle hier.
Lecker auch die Empanadas, die fritierten Teigtaschen 🥟. Allerdings habe ich immer nur von den Verkäufern Bananas verstanden. Gut, dann ja, bitte Bananas mit Kartoffel und Zwiebel, bitte.
Und zu guter letzt das argentinische Steak 🥩, das können sie wirklich. 👍🏻 Und Landschaft auch - Patagonien ist ein Wahnsinn! Viel, viel Land und sehr, sehr beeindruckend!

Argentina…. where do I start? Preferably with the people who are also extremely nice and helpful here. Many certainly don't have it easy, but they don't lose their good mood. Best example: The man from Mendoza at the airport in Buenos Aires. I want to buy a bottle of water from the vending machine, 300 pesos. I only have a 500 pesos note. The machine doesn't accept it. So wouldn't have gotten any water there. He hands me 300 pesos, doesn't just want to change my 500, that's fine. Where I would come from and then he wishes me a safe trip. 😃
As a tourist, you are a bit confused about the difficulties with withdrawing money and paying in general.
Yesterday you paid with a credit card in the supermarket without any problems, but the same card is no longer accepted at the same checkout the next day.
Flight bookings as well: once the card payment works at JetSmart, a week later 2 credit cards and 2 debit cards are rejected. Stupid only if it is the only airline that offers the desired flight.
At ATMs: Either you end up at a machine that, in the last of 6 steps, spits out the card again with the information that you want to withdraw too much. Means back to the start again and so you slowly work your way down in terms of amount until you are allowed to withdraw the equivalent of almost 20 euros. With a fee, of course. And then you can do that as often as you want. Or, you (I) need a few thousand pesos 2 days before departure and, quite experienced this time, type in the lowest amount right away. Well, can you guess it? The message was, sorry, you don't want to withdraw enough money, try again. So this time it's time to work your way up. 🙄
Uber didn't work for me at all here either. When ordered, they immediately wrote whether it was possible to pay cash in dollars. Of course I don't have any. Rides were canceled immediately or the driver didn't even come.
Foreign currencies withdrawals with credit cards can no longer be carried out at Western Union, which has been canceled this service sone time ago.
There is one more thing that annoys me personally. Whether in a restaurant, café, inside/outside, bus, airport, airplane or anywhere else: you look „loudly“. The mute mode or headphones are hardly ever used. So, take a deep breath and try to ignore it.
My relationship to the toilets in the accommodations here is ambivalent. Some scare me (see photo), some are funny because the toilet seat is made of a kind of fluffy foam that collapses when you sit on it. They are totally comfortable and would certainly not be that cold in winter. By the way, in BRA and ARG you lose all your good karma if you throw the used toilet paper in the toilet. That has to go in a separate container.
It's also nice that you can simply take drinks with you at the airport security checks, including a 2-liter water bottle. Just like that! And you applaud after landing and celebrate the pilot. Off-season you fly zigzag, direct connections are almost non-existent along the west coast. The distances are sometimes a completely different dimension than europeans are used to. You like to drive 25 hours or longer by bus? Come here and live it out.
The buses in Buenos Aires and elsewhere: Numbers and routes are painted on the outside of the bus. Not as electronic displays like ours and every bus can take almost any route. No, every route still has its own buses! 😉
Old people and people with children are simply brought immediately to the front of the queue in many places. Cool.
There is tango dancing in Buenos Aires, especially on weekends, literally on every second corner.

Hard cut: do you know why the pacific ocean is called pacific? Because when Magellan had rounded the southern tip, he had nice, calm weather for several weeks. So the ocean is now called “pacifico” (peaceful, calm). If his sailors could only laugh about it on the return trip, then nothing was peaceful anymore.
And yes, Messi & Maradona as well as the Pope are omnipresent. Of roughly the same importance. Nice that ARG won the last world cup, it was about time again and it was sooo important for everyone here.
