      OF (organised fun)

      There is no better day than an OF day.
      Got everyone loaded in the cars and went in search of a frisbee golf course. Andrew and I both had strong suspicions that it wouldn't exist anymore. But that didn't stop us from going to have a look.
      On the way towards it we stopped into a Coffee tasting and learnt a few things. The main one I came away with is that it is actually the water contact time with the bean which defines the amount of caffeine in the coffee. Therefore an espresso which typically has less bean contact time will actually have a lower caffeine content than when using a plunger.
      Followed this up with a chocolate place and a olive and soap place.
      The berry farm was next for an amazing food platter. Full of everything from pastry to sausage to fruit.
      By 3pm we eventually found the frisbee place. It was indeed abandoned. We managed to fish some frisbee out of the bin. Heather wisely stayed near the car whilst the rest of us ventured into the bush.
      Got totally hammered by ants and horse flies. You basically had to keep stamping on the spot to stop the ants from biting you. Penny got a bit scared of a horse fly at one point and, much to the amusement of everyone, let go a little speed boost to keep her going faster round the course.
      Glad to be finished we piled back into the cars.
      Andrew took us on some off roading (not suitable for our car) then around a forest which was very pretty.

      Day 138

      Baking feet

      Andrew and his dad headed off early to try out the skate park and the rest of us had a more leisurely start to the day. Then we decided to head to the beach in time to meet Andrew. Took a look at Meelup beach but Andrew suggested Castle Rock would be quieter so we quickly headed there.
      We were very British and set up some chairs and an umbrella but it was great to have some shade. After some swimming, frisbee and snorkeling, we headed to Aravina winery. The sand was so hot when walking back to the car it felt like we were actually burning our feet.
      At Aravina we tried some wine and had a look at the surf museum,which was pretty cool.
      Then we headed to Yallingup cheese to taste some local cheese and decided it was a good spot for lunch over looking the lake.

      Rivendale vineyard to do a tasting of Forester wine. We were served by an Italian man who was married to a lady from Torquay.
      We had some time to chill at the house and using the pool before we started babysitting duties whilst Bitmeads were out having a nice meal. Louis was their taxi driver and almost ran into a Kangaroo on the way home the first time. We read the boys bedtimes stories and luckily they were asleep quickly and quiet for the rest of the night.      Read more

      Sunset

      I'm staying really close to the sea at Scarborough Beach, but I've missed the famous sunset the last couple of nights. So I made sure I saw it this evening as my last night in Australia.

      Blaues Bootshaus

      Nach einem leckeren Frühstück im Hotel nahmen wir heute die Fähre nach South Perth. Von dort aus marschierten wir dem Swan River entlang bis zur Heirisson Island. Auf dieser Insel gibt es Kängurus, welche wir relativ schnell an einem schattigen Platz entdeckten. Von dort aus ging es wieder dem Fluss entlang zurück nach Perth.
      Am Nachmittag besuchten wir nochmals den Kings Park. Leider war die Aussicht nicht ganz so gut wie am Sonntag. Perth war mit Rauch überdeckt von den Waldbränden in der Nähe der Stadt. Wir machten einen Spaziergang durch den botanischen Garten. Wir sahen verschiedene Pflanzen und Bäume, welche nicht einmal Mami oder Papi kannten. Am Ende des Parks war das blaue Bootshaus, ein beliebtes Fotosujet hier in Perth. Wir mussten sogar anstehen, um Fotos zu machen.Wieso es so beliebt ist, fanden wir leider nicht heraus.       Day 19

      Rottnest Island

      Am Montag habe ich mich mit einer ganz lieben Franzosin getroffen, die über Facebook Jemanden gesucht hat, der sie auf Rottnest Island begleitet. Natürlich hab ich "hier" geschrien und war über glücklich endlich jemanden kennen zu lernen. Am 22.8.19 war es dann so weit! Mit der Fähre ging es auf die kleine Insel nicht weit vom Ufer von Fremantle entfernt. Die Hinfahrt war der Horror 🤢. Angekommen haben wir uns ein Fahrrad geliehen und sind die kleine Runde über die Insel gestartet! Das Wasser war irre und ich habe mich geärgert, kein Schwimmzeug eingepackt zu haben. Die Insel ist bekannt für die vielen kleinen Tiere (Quokkas). Meiner Meinung nach ein Kreuzung aus Ratte und Känguru 😂, die haben sich ganz wunderbar fotografieren lassen. Quokkas sehen beim Essen aus als würden sie lachen, deswegen werden sie mit Blättern, von der Insel, gerne gefüttert, um dann möglichst im liegen hinterm Quokka das beste Bild zu ergattern🤪. Ich war hier bereits im Meer, aber nur so weit, dass meine Klamotten nicht ganz nass wurden. Hose aus und ab bis zum Popo rein. Für die Insel muss man eigentlich mindestens zwei Tage einplanen, so kann man dann nämlich auch wunderbar Schnorcheln gehen! In der Hoffnung, dass man nicht von einem Hai gefressen wird. Ach ja, auf der Hinfahrt habe ich meine ersten Delfine gesehen! Aufgrund der Übelkeit war es aber kaum zu genießen. Auf der Rückfahrt habe ich dann gefragt, wo ich mich am besten hinsetze, damit ich nicht erneut fast breche. Die neue Sitzwahl plus Reisetabletten haben die Rückfahrt dann erträglich gemacht!

      Perth

      Nun schreibe ich nach einer Weile auch mal wieder was. Ich glaube ich musste hier erst mal etwas ankommen. Nach ca. 1,5 Wochen im Hostel war ich ganz schön ausgelaugt, aber mir war bereits in Deutschland klar, dass ich auf die Art Leben weder klar komme noch sie mir für mich vorstelle. Allerdings habe ich im ersten Hostel zumindest Jenni und Franzi kennenlernen dürfen. Mit denen habe ich ganz viel unternommen, sodass ich ein bisschen weniger Heimweh hatte und ein bisschen mehr Mut, dass schon irgendwie alles laufen wird. Mir war aber bewusst, dass ich schnell ein Auto wollte, um aus dem Hosteltrott heraus zu kommen. Eines mit dem man Australien ganz wunderbar bereisen kann. Es musste ein 4wd her und zwar bitte schnell. Ich habe also nach langer Suche am 17.08.19 den Scuby2 gekauft. Ein ganz toller Mitsubishi Pajero Baujahr 2002. Ich war über glücklich und konnte das zweite und auch letzte Hostel endlich verlassen (hier war es mir viel zu laut). Ich habe vorerst alles in mein Auto geladen und wusste, dass ich ab nun zumindest nichts mehr tragen musste 😂. Dennoch war ich sehr fertig und hatte auch noch kein Bett im Auto, sodass ich kurzer Hand ein Hotel gebucht habe, für sehr wenig Geld. Jetzt konnte ich ein paar Tage entspannen und alles regeln, was das Auto betraf. Ummelden, Versicherung und Inventar. Eigentlich war der Plan noch während meines Aufenthalts im Hotel alles zu erledigen. 🤷‍♀️ Hat leider nicht geklappt. Leider habe ich es auch mit zwei Tagen mehr im Hotel nicht geschafft, alles fertig zu bekommen 😖. Da das Hotel aber teurer wurde, wollte ich mir das nicht mehr leisten und suchte über Airbnb eine neue Bleibe. Die war zum Glück auch schnell gefunden. So zog ich weiter in ein nettes Apartment, sogar mit Fenster 😅.
      Nun schaffte ich es auch, in der Zeit mein Auto auszubauen und alles für den Anfang zu besorgen.
      Nächster Schritt: Jobsuche, sonst sitze ich bald ohne Geld in Australien 😱!      Read more

      Beach reading

      Started a sci fi book - The Worldship Humility.
      Up, to Trigg beach for a read, while Hannah and heather met with a friend from the UK.
      Then we drove to Cottesloe beach - for more reading - the ladies had a little swim.
      Went for a plate of meat and olives. Had a read.
      Got back to a sun lounger by the pool, had a read.
      Finished the book - dont do that very often! Didn't even go for a swim.      Read more
