    Monday's Hash & Today's Anniversary

    June 4 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 68 °F

TODAY MARKS MY ONE YEAR OF TRAVELING! And I'm not done yet!! ♥️

Soak, Romney, and I went to the Townsville Hash last night! Around 70 people there! Great fun...AND I found someone to go with to the Palm Creek Folk Festival Wed-Sun. Sweet as!!

This morning I read another novel and am now going to pack for the weekend trip.

Still no debit card. It's held up for clearance issues in Sydney. No clue and no delivery scheduled. Disappointing but not surprising. 😢😡

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️

    Leaving Bushland Bay

    July 14 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

I am very sad to be leaving beautiful Townsville and my wonderful friends in Bushland Bay, but it's time to move south. My train leaves at 14:45. 😭😭😭

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️

    Planning

    July 10 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 75 °F

I'm still working on this trip and future trips. Just grabbing some lunch right now.

Also looking at other countries in which to retire. The US has lost its frigging mind. Even Australians are stunned, and they do some crazy shit over here!

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️

    Aarrgghhh

    May 27 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

I got my new debit card yesterday, the bank's second attempt to send me a working card with the correct name. They're going to need a third chance to get it right. Aarrgghhh! Why is this so difficult?!?! Thankfully, I have very kind friends who are happy for me to stay with them as long as I need to get this all sorted out.

I got back to Townsville yesterday, and Soak and his wife Bronwyn collected me at the ferry landing. Soak and I took Max to the beach for a quick walk, then popped in to say hello to Pam, a neighbor. Then back to the house where Soak and Bron made a lovely curry dinner paired with a gorgeous deep red wine. I'm very lucky to know these wonderful people.

Now, I'm hanging out with Max and about to tear the front tires off of Soak's flatbed trailer so he can figure out how expensive the brake job will be. Not that he left the handbrake on or anything. 😉

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️

    Still in Townsville

    June 19 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Even though I received my correct debit card, I'm still staying with Soak and Romney in Townsville for a while. Soak and his dirt bike group are taking a trip up north, and I've been invited to tag along. Cool.

Today I'm goofing on the computer. I bought the pictures from my white water rafting escapade on 22 May. Perhaps you can see why I fell out of the boat a couple of times, but this is one where I didn't!Read more

    You Can't Make This Up

    June 11 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

I am completely speechless. On 7 May, my bank killed my debit card and mailed me a new one to Texas. Great, but I am in Australia. On 13 May, I received a new card but with the incorrect last name. I ordered another. I received it on 21 May. Again, wrong last name. I ordered a third one with the guarantee it would be correct. I received it on 10 June, and guess what. Yep. Wrong last name. I spoke to them a fourth time at 0200 this morning and was once again assured that the embossing would be correct. I cannot begin to comprehend the ineptitude it takes for this to happen.

Thank goodness I have great friends here who will continue to let me stay with them until this is sorted out.

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️

    Yep, Reading Again

    June 18 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Maximum and I are hanging out again, me reading and him sunning.

On a better note, yesterday I finally received my debit card with my correct surname. The fourth time is the charm, I suppose. And this morning a lady from the CEO offices called to follow up and apologize. That was nice of her, but I suspect it's too little too late. I'll be bank and auto insurance shopping when I get back to the US.

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️

    Laundry & Planning

    July 9 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Soak and I got back to his house in Bushland Beach yesterday afternoon after dropping Brett off at his house.

Today is laundry day and planning for the rest of my Oz trip. Right now I'm trying to download all my Google Photos, which is being a pain.

Maximum is really glad Soak is back, and even I got a few kisses.

    2020 Trip Planning

    July 11 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 73 °F

Still working on my next hashing adventure to the Caribbean area as part of International Hash (InterHash) 2020 in Trinidad and Tobago. Pre-event cruise ready, one flight booked, post-event cruise cancelled, hotel in T&T sorted. Sweet!

I have got to do something with my hair.

    Shopping

    June 12 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

So, I'll be in the Townsville area for at least another week waiting on the debit card situation to resolve.

Today I got a haircut and did some shopping. Yesterday I restarted the Game of Thrones books. Don't tell me about the TV series, please.

So long [for now] and thanks for all the fish. ✌️
