      Yeppoon

      March 21, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We have travelled further north and have now crossed The Tropic of Capricorn so we are in the Tropics. You could tell when we arrived as the temperature was 37 deg C and quite humid.
We are actually at Cooee Bay which is next to a scenic bit of coastline which we are going to explore whilst here. The Bay looks out to Kepple Island, a few miles off shore, which is a magnet for day trippers and back packers. We may go another time as we are doing some similar islands further up the coast next week.
We wandered into Yeppoon this afternoon to get a feel for the place and to review the splendid new swimming lagoon which has an infinity edge looking directly onto the beach and over to Kepple Island. It was still baking hot so we took some cooling down at a fabulous ice cream cafe.
The bird life here is abundant with lorikeet and kookaburras chattering all around us.
We took a trip along the coast to wreck point and to Emu Park which is a small village to the south backing a fine beach. At Emu Park there is an Anzac memorial which is very moving and the singing ship which is a memorial to Captain Cook who dropped anchor here and named the islands in 1770.
We spent some time on the beach doing some fishing. Karen caught a snapper which we returned to the water. On the way out of Emu Park Karen spied a craft shop where she found some nice Australian fabrics to add to the collection

23 • Botanik, Beef und Beach

      August 19, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

A Day for Pool, Kayak and Beach

      November 6, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We had a relaxed day today. I had a swim in the late morning and we chilled out not doing too much until mid afternoon when we drove about a kilometre up the road to where the river and ocean meet at the causeway. The river pans out to a lake and Gadi put the kayak into the water here. He took Cadbury (reluctantly) out for a short trip before giving him a gentle nudge over the edge so he could swim back. He then went out for a longer kayak.

After he returned we drove to several of the nearby beaches to enjoy golden hour as we walked along the water’s edge and later sunset on some of the beautiful local beaches.

Back home to barbecue chicken fillets for dinner and time to relax from all the hard work of the day!

Good night from Kinka Beach xx
