Auf unserer Route nach Norden hielten wir in Cooktown für einen kurzen Zwischenstopp und fuhren schnurstracks den Hügel "Grassy Hill" hinauf. Dort konnten wir bei strahlendem Sonnenschein das "Great Barrier Reef", den Endeavour-River und Cooktown selbst von oben betrachten. Ein ganz schön imposanter Ausblick auf ein paar hundert Metern Höhe...
Cooktown ist nach James Cook benannt, der hier 1770 als erster Europäer entlang segelte und die erste Karte Ostaustraliens erstellte.
Wir nutzten auch die Gelegenheit hier nochmal unsere Vorräte aufzustocken, bevor wir unseren Roadtrip Richtung Norden weiterführten.Read more

This is a fantastic lookout and site of the lighthouse. We came here to watch the sun set as the moon rose. Alas, as the moon was hidden from view by the cloud bank we can't confirm this fact. .

Tonight is a perigee moon, blood moon, and lunar eclipse. Nature has provided clouds to hide it all from our view. The eclipse is at 09:30pm so hoping there is a hole in the cloud cover.
