      Green Head

      February 2, 2020 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Read more

      Indian Ocean Drive

      May 16, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We enjoyed views of the ocean at Cervantes before journeying up the Indian Ocean Drive to Jurien Bay where we saw a dolphin busy feeding. We enjoyed the newly developed sea front, including a game of draughts abd walking on the pier. We had a great spot for a picnic and stroll around the three bays at Green Head. Our camp spot for the night was the view we had been wanting from our time in the camper, clear views across the ocean with a great sunset.Read more

      Roadtrip von Perth nach Exmouth

      3. Point Louis Green Head WA

      Green Head Gallery Cafe

      December 1 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Back here again - to have lunch this time. Roger orders a sausage roll, custard pastry and a cappuccino. I order a couscous salad, apple cake and a Noah fruit juice. We accidentally order a savoury pastry - which we share between us before we have our desserts. All very delicious. We eat outside in the garden today. Have a great view of the Osprey nest with 3 young in it - that is out front of the cafe.Read more

      Green Head Gallery Cafe

      November 29 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Oh so happy we came across this Cafe on our walk this morning. It's so lovely - a house that has converted to a Cafe, so there's a real cottage 'homey' feel with a beautiful garden and veranda with seating all about. As it's a hot, blustery day - Rog and I happy to go inside with the air-conditioning. Doing this, love the styling here too, feel like we've stepped into the kitchen, dining area with lots of lovely baked goods sitting about - freshly cooked. The 1st thing the lovely young girl, serving inside does is apologise for the elderly golden retriever dog lying on the floor near the counter. Apparently they don't normally let her (dog) inside during Cafe hours - but she's persistent on the warmer days as she's after the air-conditioning too. We're happy to truthfully say we don't mind, as she's just lying there being very quiet and good. On obviously liking the dog - as Roger has gone over to pat her, the girl explains she's a true 'rescue dog' - a family member found her while overseas (South Korea) in a 'dog shop' waiting to go on the menu. So long story short - they got her on a plane back to Australia for 'Mum' to pick up and look after. Well she's an elderly dog now living her best pampered life that's for sure.
Roger orders a mug of cappuccino and a custard pastry, I go for a tea, lemon and ginger, and can't resist the amazing looking custard pastry either. Mmmmm - so good, 'magnificent' in Roger's words to the older lady who does the baking here.
While we're relaxing here, we make the decision we'll check out the caravan park - we saw their sign "4 nights for price of 3" - and if we're happy with the deal we'll stay in Green Head.
On finishing here, we continue our walk, via the caravan park for enquiry, back to our ute and van.

      Milligan Island Eco Camping

      November 27 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Arrive here and discover that we are meant to book online. So we look about and select Site 5 and make the booking. $20 per night unpowered. Once we are settled we go for a walk to the beach. Gorgeous spot to be - we go for a lovely walk, paddling in the water. When we return to our van, we have our lunch, meat and salad sandwiches for Roger and open toasties for me. We relax reading for a while, before Roger decides to get in his bathers, take his camp chair and book to go sit at the beach. I don't go with him straight away, I follow down abit later. I do the same, bathers, book etc plus I take a couple of beers and some muesli bars. When I get to the beach where Rog is - he's now out of the shade as the wind and tide rising have got him looking for a more sheltered spot. It's in full sun and I forgot to renew my sunscreen. Oh well, have our beer then head back to the van again. Continue reading and Roger organises our pizzas for tea. He cooks 2, 1 by 1 in the BBQ. Roger has his shower, now relaxing before bed. Think I'll see if I can watch some TV ABC iView - Muster Dogs - Where Are They Now? Before bed. Couldn't watch the latest Muster Dog series - not available until 10 December, so I watched a episode of Questions & Answers - definitely put me to sleep!
28/11/24 Thursday. Wake up around 6.30am. Rog and I lie in bed discussing our options with a bushfire happening 60km south of us. We decide to stay put here for at least another night. We were booked in at a farmstay south of Jurien Bay for the next 3 nights, but we cancel that as that area definitely in a 'watch and act' zone. We try to rebook our camp site here for another night - our site 5 is not 'cleared' online to do so. We figure it must still be held for us until later - we'll keep trying throughout the morning/day.
Get up and have our breakfast, porridge for me, muesli and toast for Roger with our cuppas. Roger tinkering with maintenance stuff on caravan and ute, I'm on cleaning duties in the van. We decide to go for a beach walk, Roger gets in his bathers in case he feels like a swim, I don't, I'll wait until this afternoon. Just as well Roger prepared to get wet, while walking the beach, Rog had kicked off his slides to walk barefoot, and while walking away from his footwear, unbeknown to us one of his slides blew into the water. About 10 minutes later when we turned back, Rog made a comment about 'someone's lost a shoe' as he pointed out one floating off shore. Took us a tick to realise it was one of his! Naturally he swam out and got it - lucky it hadn't gone too far. When we got back from the beach, I felt like abit more of a walk, so I went and checked out the camping area - 36 sites all up. Now spend the rest of the morning relaxing. Roger has meat and salad sandwiches for lunch, I have leftover cold pizza. Rog decides to go back to the beach to swim and read, I stay back at that van to read for a while - intending to catch up with Roger at the beach later. While I'm reading, I get a knock on our caravan - it's a nice young fellow, introduces himself, Gary, and then tells me that he's booked on site 5 for 2 nights. Ar ha - that explains why we couldn't rebook it! I get online and book site 6 for Rog and I, then message Rog about Gary - so Rog comes back. We move our caravan to site 6 (easy done, ute still hitched and no awning out) so Gary's right to move onto site 5. We settle ourselves on our new site - Roger puts our awning out for shade (the wind has dropped off for now). We try to sit outside but the flys, bees, wasps are too friendly so we decide to go to the beach for a swim. When we return, there's some breeze about again, but not too bad for the awning, so we enjoy a drink outside without the insects! I shower 1st, then Roger. For tea we have steak and vegetables. Tidy up and relax until bedtime.
29/11/24 Friday. Awake before 6am so I read in bed until 6.30am and get up then with Roger. Bushfire still creating havoc south so not able to continue our plan of staying at Jurien Bay. I have a quick look at online booking for where we are at present - will not be staying on here as fully booked with the weekend. Oh well, we'll have breakfast and get organised to move. Once we've done this we head off - just after 8am - for Green Head to go for a walk and look around.

    • Day 169–173

      Green Head Caravan Park

      November 29 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Call into reception - they're offering a stay 4 nights pay for 3, sounds good to us when this works out $30 per night with power. We're allocated site 66 which is an easy drive through site at the back of the park, near the walkway to the beach. We go collect our ute and van from our walk and return to settle in. Roger tells me he read some reviews on this park - and a few weren't complimentary....Well we'll take it how we find it - after our set up, we walk about and check facilities - all good to us. No grumpy man in the office - elderly man who booked us in was lovely, yes the amenities are 'dated' but they're nice and clean, and we feel there is pride being taken about the place in keeping it's appearance nice.
We've unhitched the ute, so we drive to the General Store to get some groceries, and I buy some bubbles on good 'specials' along with a spoil of a 6pk cans of Matso Gingerbeer. Back at camp we unload, then make our lunch - usual - sandwiches for Roger, open toasties for me. Have a rest before getting into our bathers and heading off for a swim (dunk). Enjoy our time in the water, 1st spot Rocky Bay had plenty of inquisitive little fish swimming with us, nibbling at our feet and fingers- lovely clear water to watch them. The 2nd spot Dynamite Bay we swam in was deeper and where we went in was smoother sandy bottom - water not clear though. I got a cut on my foot in the first spot - rocks I guess - something sharp anyway!
We go back to camp and have showers (good ones with pressure, still short for Rog though). Relax before I make tea in the thermomix - a chicken pasta - using some of Roger's pasta sauce we brought along with us from home. Dessert is yoghurt and banana. Dishes and tidy up. Now relaxing. Rog reading, I'm writing this up, then updating our budget books before bed.
30/11/24 Saturday. We get up around 6.30am. I message Fiona Fitzgerald for her 53rd birthday - and thinking of Holly Langley with her 21st birthday today. We have our breakfast, then get organised to be out and about with a day trip to Jurien Bay. We leave just after 8am.
We return from our day out at around 4pm. Time to get into our bathers and walk to Rocky Bay for a swim - high tide, we don't get to see any fish this time. On return to campsite, we sit outside under our awning, that Rog has set up since we got back, and enjoy a couple of drinks. Matso Gingerbeer for me and XXXX for Rog. Next we have our showers, before we have some biccies and nibbles - cheese, sundried tomatoes and pickled baby cucumbers. Follow this with tea - our reheated chicken pasta. Now we've got time to walk back to the beach to watch the sunset - not the best as too much cloud about - but still a lovely thing to do. Back at our caravan we have dessert of blueberries, banana and yoghurt. Tidy up and relax before bed.
1/12/24 Sunday. Get up around 7am. It's Barb Purton and Tracey Gould birthdays today - so I message them both. Decide I'll go for a run this morning - Rog is keen to do a cooked breakfast - and will wait until I get back with a cuppa and good book. I enjoy my 6km shuffle along the 3 Bay trail and abit further along Anchorage Cove Beach. When I get back I get changed and help carry prepared food to camp kitchen for Roger to cook. While doing this we enjoy a whatsapp call from Tegan - all good. Once we've had breakfast and tidied up we go for a drive to check out Green Head's South Bay. When we return to our caravan, we get ready to walk to our favourite Cafe for lunch.
When we get back we get organised to walk to the Green Head Bowls Club - we're going to play social bowls.
Return from here around 7pm - too full to worry about getting tea - later, after relaxing, we have some fresh fruit and yoghurt. Roger goes and has his shower. I work on updating our budget books and this. Will try and see if I can get 1st episode of latest Muster Dogs series on ABC iView when I head to bed tonight. It's advertised that I should...
2/12/24 Monday. Wake up around 6am - stay in bed reading until 7am. Roger has gotten up 1st and had his breakfast. I get up and make my porridge and cuppa. It's washing day today - weather will be fine, so strip the bed, remake with the spare clean set of sheets. Gather up our dirty stuff and get 2 loads of washing going in the laundry here - dearest so far, $8 per load. Once we've got the washing out on the line, we go for a walk to the General Store so I can post our family Christmas cards and lollies and money to Frankie and Annabelle (Adam McClure's girls). Roger gets a box of beer and a couple of hose fittings. We return to our campsite for a relax. Roger planning ahead for our trip - map books are out. I realise I didn't get tracking with the parcel I sent this morning, so I go back to the shop to get it. Roger comes for the walk with me and we go to the other Cafe in Green Head first, to try it for a cuppa and snack. Not as good as good as the Gallery Cafe. Once I've got my parcel tracking sorted, we go for a walk about Green Head to find the Men's Shed - it is a beaut set up - closed today, but can see it's a substantial goer. Back to caravan to make up our lunch. Toasted sandwiches that we cook in the camp kitchen. During this time we're discussing about my Adelaide trip in February - to see Bryan Adams - going with Sharon. We decide it would save us 'running about' so much if I fly from Ceduna (return). So start the wheels in motion for this. Part of this is letting Martin Hayman know when we plan to get to Ceduna - where he's working at present. To have a stretch, Roger and I go for another walk in the afternoon - along the 3 Bay trail to enjoy the sea views and breeze. When we get back we get our washing in and sorted. I notice Martin has responded about our dates and mentions his living arrangements have changed. With some back and forth texting - I ask if I can ring for a chat - ends up he calls me/us. Sound like things haven't been going so smoothly his way - glad he rang to chat. I'm crossing my fingers he'll ring his parents soon - he said he will. Meanwhile Roger has our tea prepared - steak and salad. We follow this with fresh fruit salad and yoghurt. I do the dishes, Roger has his shower. Now relaxing before bed. Think I'll watch another episode of the latest Muster Dogs series.
3/12/24 Tuesday. Wake up 6am, read for a while and get up when Rog does, I head off to have a shower before my breakfast. On return, make my porridge and cuppa. Roger is getting us sorted ready to leave. I make a phone call to Travel and Cruise Ceduna to organise return flights between Ceduna and Adelaide - for me when I go to spend some time with Sharon and go see Bryan Adams together in February next year. We leave Green Head before 9am.
