    Woolshed Falls, Victoria

    April 16 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

After a drive to Mt Pilot, we took at a look at Woolshed Falls on the way back. This is a very picturesque spot with water cascading down the Falls.

Many years ago the water at the bottom was pumped dry to retrieve the rich gold store trapped there.

    Road Trip Ending

    August 2 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 1 °C

    Leaving Lakeside today.

We have enjoyed our holiday in Victoria.

This morning the drive was interesting the sun was out until we hit Rutherglen and the fog settled over countryside . I was driving and mentioned to John that it just got cold. I pulled over to take a photo and the car had a warning light on. It was 3 degrees , the car has an inbuilt warning telling you when it's this cold and that the roads may be icy. What a clever car.

About 20min out of Rutherglen the fog started to dissipate but it was still cold now 5 deg.

As the day progressed we finally reached 10 degrees.

    Road trip ending today.

Visiting the 12 Apostles was great everyone needs to visit before the ocean and wind reduce the existing 8 to Zero.

The first week we were on the road moving every day. Some of the places we stayed overnight really need a few days visit so we will be back. The 2 weeks we stayed in our holiday club resorts were also great, they both had a lot to do at the resorts and in the areas around them.

The Hopwood's, Alexander's and Wilson's should plan a family holiday.

Tonight we are staying at Minto Mansion to catch up with Michael, Hilda and the A Team.

I guess it is time to say goodbye Victoria and hello Auckland in a few days.

    Beechworth.

    April 16 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Beechworth has quite a few very scenic spots. The man-made Sambell Lake is a beautiful place to relax with a picnic lunch, walk the dog or take the kids for a paddle in a safe sandy spot.

A short drive takes in some spectacular scenery finishing with the newtown bridge and falls. There is also the historic powder magazine. A very solid wall around the building ensured that any explosion would be directed upward.Read more

    Stone Bridge, Yackandandah

    April 17 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

There once was a time things were built to last. The Yackandandah stone bridge was built to last. Built around 160 years ago it still serves well.

    Text from the marker:-
"This fine stone bridge was built in 1859-1860 to allow easy crossing of the Commissioners Creek, on what was then the Goldfields.
Soon after completion ofthe bridge the authorities decided that the grade was easier via Chlltern, thus bypassing tne Beechworth qoldfields and Yackandandah hills. "
