      The end

      Today we had to hand in our van. So after breakfast we had to pack our stuff. There was a bird who wanted to be packed with it, but we advised it to fly out of the van instead. Before we left Yanchep National Park we wanted to have a look at the koalas one last time. This time we were lucky and two of them seemed pretty active. While the first one seemed undecided if he was hungry enough to really do the climb to the leafs, the second one was fully enjoying his breakfast. He didn't seem to notice that it was from a 'fake' tree. It was very cute. But seeing them being so active and up close we also realised how big they were and how large their arms and claws are.

      Eventually we had to leave. We arrived in Perth, removed all the red dust from the van, dropped off our bags at the apartment, filled the fuel tank and drove to Traveller's Autobarn. This was a first glimpse into a world with corona. 3.5 weeks ago this place was busy with staff and people that picked up their van. Today it was closed, information on how to hand in your car contactless was hanging on the front door together with how to get a voucher for remaining rental days in case you delivered it early because of corona. The parking was full of returned unused rental cars and vans.

      To minimise the infection risk we took an uber to our Airbnb for the week. After giving the critical places like light switches, door handles, kitchen drawers etc. a good scrub, we felt at home quite quickly. Which is good, because it's a place for isolation.

      The last 142 days have been a great adventure for us. Thanks to everyone who followed our trip and thanks for the comments, likes and private messages! For now we will discontinue our world trip blog until there's something to write about again.      Read more

      Home for 3 nights

      So checked in, living in a 3/4 bedroom house, I'm in the lavender room and omg it's so so nice I won't want to leave haha!!

      Just got a few things, making a mini roast chicken dinner as I fancied it!

      The bed is so comfy and there's a lush bath!!! So deffo having that tonight and relaxing this evening!

      Just what i needed

      So relaxed this evening, did some relaxing planning, watched bridgerton and made this yummy food!!

      One of the ladies staying one night is called Elizabeth, she is 70s or 80s (still travelling) often goes to UK and is so so nice!

      Put a wash on as got grease on my jumper!!

      In the meantime having the most relaxing bath, this is EXACTLY what I needed after those long drives and cold car nights!!

      Perth, Bridgetown und Rottnest Island

      Mein erster Stop und der mit Abstand beste Start. Besonders glücklich hat mich das Kennenlernen der Familie von meinem
      Opa ( mütterlicherseits) gemacht.
      Ich durfte etwas mehr als eine Woche sogar bei der Cousine von meiner Mutter wohnen.
      Weil das alles sehr spontan war, hatte ich allerdings auch ein Hostel für 3 Nächste gebucht. Das Shiralee Hostel im Herzen von Perth. Eine tolle kleine Unterkunft für meine aller erste Nacht allein in einem Hostel.

      Wie alles anfing..... 📜

      Am 22.3.2018 um ( Ursprünglich geplant 10.10 Uhr ) sollte es für mich in mein wohl größtes Abenteuer gehen. Leider hatte der erste Flieger gute 40 Minuten Verspätung, sodass ich die beiden weiteren Flieger selbstverständlich nicht erreicht habe 😉

      Egal! Alles kommt wir es kommen soll.. ich also in Amsterdam super aufgeregt zum Counter um eine neue Route gebucht zu bekommen. Damit dann alles geklärt, es ging anstatt nach China-Perth nach Dubai-Perth. Und musste somit auch nur 2 Stunden, anstatt amüsante 16 Stunden in China warten. Gefiel mit sehr 🙌🏼

      In Perth angekommen, holten Susan und ihr Mann Neil mich ab. Sie empfangen mich wirklich herzlich und ich war unendlich dankbar, nach einem solch langen Trip direkt eine Unterkunft zu haben. Dort verbrachte ich eine Nacht und schlief dann, da bereits vorab gebucht, die 3 Nächte im Hostel. 🏢Die weiteren Nächte verbrachte ich dann wieder bei Susan und ihrer Family. Ein großes Highlight für mich war der Oster-Wochenende Ausflug in das Ferienhaus von Susans Mama ( und die Patentante von meiner Mama ) nach Bridgetown, etwa 3 Stunden von Perth entfernt. Die Spaziergänge und die morgendlichen Yogaübungen dort waren überragend! 🧘🏼‍♀️

      Als wir wiederkamen ging es für einen Tagestrip nach Rottnest Island um endlich diese unendlich süßen Quokkas zu sehen. Ein unfassbar toller Tag. Und nicht nur Quokkas wurden gesichtet.. auch eine kleine schwarze Schlange ( Dugites oder auch Pseudonaja affinis ) 🐍 Die etwa 60 cm kleine Schlange überquerte gerade die Straße, als wir mit dem Fahrrad entlang fuhren. Leider war jedoch keine Zeit für ein Foto...

      Sidste aften i Australien

      Vi havde holdt god fart og kun et kort stop og fandt Country comfort hotel ved 12 tiden. Lejligheden var ikke helt klar endnu så vi fandt en IGA og handlede mad til frokost, aften og morgen. Tilbage igen fik vi nøgle og fandt townhouse nr. 8. pakkede ud, vaskede tøj og spiste frokost. Så lidt tv og gik i poolen. Bagefter tilbage i bad og så lidt aftensmad og derefter mere tv og iPad. Vi pakkede alle taskerne og gjorde klar til en dejlig nat. Sidste rigtige seng inden campervan.Read more
