      2. Tag in Melbourne (bester Tag in AU)

      Heute ein etwas spätes Update. Hier ist es nach 3 Uhr.😵‍💫

      Ich bin heute morgen vom Wecker aus dem Schlaf gerissen worden, um noch etwas von Frühstück abzubekommen. Gab glücklicherweise noch 6 Scheiben Toast für mich.
      Nach der Stärkung war ich trotzdem irgendwie unmotiviert etwas zu erleben. Erst gegen 14 Uhr konnte ich mich aufraffen. Ich wollte zum "Australian Centre of Contemporary Art", Mal wieder ein Kunstmuseum. Ich habe mich dann aber verlaufen und bin in der "National Gallery of Victoria" gelandet, auch ein Kunstmuseum.
      Die Austellung war ab und zu interessant, oft aber auch etwas langweilig. Die Architektur vom Museum war aber wieder klasse. Danach bin ich noch ein Stück durch ein Park gelaufen und dann auf dem Rückweg zum Supermarkt, um mich für das Abendessen einzudecken. Ich hatte köstliches vor.
      Wahrscheinlich kann man es am ehesten als Burger beschreiben. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt, auch wenn die Patties in der blöden Pfanne komplett angebrannt sind, trotz 5l Öl. Endlich Mal was anderes und vorallem nahrhafter als sonst.
      Danach war Uno spielen angesagt, was sich als sehr kompliziert rausstellte, weil jeder andere Regeln hat. Irgendwann sind wir dann auf Poker und Alkohol gewechselt. Gegen 0 Uhr haben wir uns dann noch spontan entschieden in ein Club zu gehen, begleitet von zwei Engländern, die im Bus nach Melbourne hinter mir saßen. Im Club war echt gute Musik und coole Stimmung. Das hat den Abend nochmal deutlich aufgewertet. Zusätzlich gab es sehr lustige Unterhaltung mit den Engländern.
      Nach einer Woche in Australien, war das glaube ich bisher der beste Tag hier.

      Hello les amis, 👋🏼

      Day off , j'en ai profité pour me promener un peu.
      Alice est allée déposer des CV pour trouver un emploi. Je voulais visiter la galerie nationale of Victoria (les premiers jours je pensais l'avoir fait mais c'était un autre endroit🤷🏼‍♀️je me suis trompée).
      Le musée est très joli de l'extérieur, avec une structure très colorée. J'ai vraiment apprécié cette petite promenade.
      Ensuite je suis allé boire un verre avec des amis, nous sommes tombés sur une battle de danse (l'ambiance qui s'en dégage est très énergique). J'ai rencontré Romane & Marc un petit couple fraîchement arrivé en Australie (amis d'Alice) qui veulent faire un road trip prochainement.
      Petit arrêt au Macdo pour suivre notre petit tour dans un club.      Read more

      The one place in Melbourne I did not go last time so knew I should this time. The Art Gallery of Victoria.

      I have seen a fair few art galleries now and frankly they are beginning to get a little monotonous. However, being a state wide art gallery this was a little different.

      Outside they have a large open area where an artist has recreated the Greek Acropolis and covered it in colour. I did not quite understand the reasoning however in the sunlight it was stunning.

      Inside was a large videogrohy exhibition. This is not something I have seen before and I enjoyed it a lot. The artists had managed to create art from videos and light, something I can get behind.

      Upstairs were many other galleries. The colonial British and European exhibitions were on all floors but as I know quite a bit about europe I avoided them.

      There were also exhibits on both the Macedonian and Grecian ears, as well as a large Asian gallery. This gallery walked you through many different cultures and their artworks influenced by them. I found the Japanese works to be my favourite. The colours and textures were somehow calming.

      There was the customary exit via the gift shop before I had to head back a little earlier than I was as I had a friend to meet.      Read more

      Today we balanced road trip prep work with sightseeing.

      After breakfast, Mui headed out to do some shopping … groceries for home-cooked meals to take on the road. After he got back, we went off to have fun … leaving the actual cooking for this afternoon.

      When Regatta called on Melbourne in January, we visited the Melbourne Museum. We spent so much time there that we didn’t get to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) then. So, that was our priority today.

      Founded in 1861, NGV is Australia’s oldest art museum. It also has the distinction of being the most visited one. The museum consists of two sites. The one we went to today is NGV: International … on St Kilda Road. We would have gone to the Ian Potter Center: NGV Australia, too. But we ran out of steam … and time.

      In this building are the museum’s European, Asian, Oceanic, and American art collections.

      We found a lot that pleased our eye. And a lot that left us scratching our heads.      Read more

      After a long, lazy morning making the most of the home comforts of a TV and sofa, we set off on a lovely Autumnal sunny walk along the boardwalk from South Yarra.

      Our destination was the National Gallery of Victoria, which was a free art musuem with some pretty cool displays, even for a couple of art noobs! There was an Alexander McQueen exhibition on, however that cost, so we stuck to the viewings of the free exhibitions. The gallery had a range of pieces, with my favourite ones being a pencil drawing which came to life through music and video and the x ray scanner where we put the contents of our pockets on the moving belt to add to the artwork.

      We continued to walk into the CBD, stopped for a drink on Flinders street before heading back to the comfort of our South Yarra apartment.      Read more

      Il me reste plus que 2 jours à Melbourne après direction… le temps étais toujours super forme mais pas grave je suis aller au musée gratuit bien évidemment je suis à un rat je serai pas aller si non 😂😂 bien évidemment je rigole cetais cool mais je crois que les muser ce n’est pas fais pour moi 😅
      Vers 16 heure je me suis dirigée vers le CBD jai vu les buildings dans le brouillard j’adore 🥰 puis je suis aller au centre commercial sans rien acheter cette fois juste en regardant car ça fais 4 mois que je mets les meme vêtements alors j en ai marre j’ai besoins de changement mais ps de place et j’ai déjà acheté trop de chose puis je suis aller à l hostel puis on a chiller a l hostel      Read more

      National Gallery und noch mehr Märkte

      Melanie ist heute auf einer Great Ocean Road Tagestour also haben Rachel und ich uns heute auf dem Weg gemacht. Als erstes sind wir auf den "South Melbourne Market". Dieser Markt ist weniger touristisch. Hier gibt es Küchenutensilien, (Marken)-Klamotten, Taschen, Schuhe, Haustierzubehör und natürlich wieder alles mögliche an Lebensmitteln. Allerdings ist dieser Markt nicht so groß wie der Queen Victoria Market. Nach gut einer Stunde sind wir zurück in die Stadt und haben "Chinatown" und "Greektown" besichtigt.
      Chinatown war recht unspektakulär (immerhin gab es hier noch eine weitere Seitenstraße mit Street-Art😀) und Greektown quasi gar nicht vorhanden - ich habe zwei griechische Restaurants wahrgenommen😂

      Nach unserem Lunch in einem Food-Court sind wir in die "NGV International" (National Gallery of Victoria) gegangen und haben an einer einstündigen kostenlosen Führung teilgenommen. Wir haben uns hier überwiegend Bilder aus dem 17. Und 18. Jahrhundert angeschaut.. nicht soooo spannend😐. Am Ende gab es dann noch einen Japanischen Teil, wo Bambus-Skulpturen ausgestellt wurden. Ganz cool, was man alles mit Bambus machen kann!
      Ein "Kunstwerk" war am Ausgang der Gallery aufgebaut - ganz viele Blumen🌻🌼⚘. Diese sollte man am Ende des Aufenthaltes mitnehmen, um sie dann auf dem Weg nach Hause einem Fremden zu geben. Der Sinn dahinter: den Tag auf je anden glücklicher zu machen😊 Schöne Idee, fanden Rachel und ich, und haben uns jeweils eine Blume mitgenommen. Allerdings nicht so leicht, diese an den Mann bzw die Frau zu bringen, denn was sagt man eig? Und vor allem etwas demontierend, wenn die auserwählte Person, die Blume gar nicht haben will! Rachels erste Wahl und auch meine erste Wahl haben beide dankend abgelehnt.. Was stimmt mit denen nicht😰? Danach hatten wir mehr Glück, denn die Nächsten haben die Blumen dankend angenommen 😆

      Da Rachel morgen nach Tasmanien fliegt, sind wir zur Busstation gelaufen, von der ihr Bus zum Flughafen abfährt, und von dort zum Hostel, damit sie weiß, wie lange sie morgen früh für den Weg einplanen muss.
      Im Hostel waren wir dann ungefähr zwei Stunden, bevor wir dann zum "Queen Victoria Night Market" gegangen sind. Auf dem Weg dahin haben wir noch eine kleine Seitenstraße mit Street-Art entdeckt☺. Der Night Market findet im Sommer einmal in der Woche statt. Hier gibt es fast nur etwas zu Essen (Street-Food) und zu Trinken (ein paar Souvenir-Stände sind aber auch zu finden) und zwei Bühnen gibt es auch. Aber was nun essen? Alles riecht gut und sieht noch besser aus. Es gibt spanische, türkische, äthiopische, amerikanische, viele asiatische Stände etc. Die Deutschen sind natürlich mit Bretzeln vertreten. Ich habe mich dann für ein "schnitzel pretzel burger" entschieden - Chicken-Schnitzel im Laugenbrötchen mit Salat. Zum Nachtisch gab es dann noch ein "Cookies & Cream Eis"😊

      Um 21 Uhr sind wir dann mit Melanie zur "Town Hall" gelaufen. Hier findet ab heute ein Weihnachts-Lichspektakel statt. Voll schön 😆 - von Weihnachtsstimmung trotzdem keine Spur🙈.      Read more

      First day around Flinders

      Great day! Today I went to the inner city and it was gorgeous! It took a long time to get from east to the centre but it was all good eventually. While checking in using my Myki I saw this bloke hanging around. At the same time I noticed these girls not checking in (outrageous I know) I asked this fellow how often the officials would have check ups. He told me they rarely set foot on that tramline. I kept that in mind while I endeavoured to Flinders Street.

      A MERE FEW CENTURIES LATER, I finally arrived, and the city centre was at my own two feet.

      I walked about for just a tick to get a good general impression of the city. It looked stunningly beautiful. I walked past the bridge (which was equally stunning) to get a view of the Yarra, the river that floats upside down (because it's dirty). Having crossed the bridge, I quickly came across a museum; the national gallery of Victoria.

      I spent some time there, free of charge! They had great exhibitions, including a vast collection of European art. It was an impressive sight to behold.

      Afterwards I quickly paced through the city to obtain a glimpse of its vastness.

      Die National Gallery of Art of Victoria. War ganz cool und es ist gratis! Am besten gefallen haben mir die temporären Ausstellungen mit moderner Kunst. Der Rest war eher Teller und Gemälde. Wobei die Gemälde mega waren! Viel mehr gibt's hier auch gar nicht zu sagen :)Read more

      På ett av Melbournes gratismuseer stiftade vi bekantskap med "kroppsarkitekten" Lucy McRae som utforskade framtidens möjligheter till kroppsförbättringar. Knasigt och intressant.

      Bild 2 kommer från den lite äldre samlingen och visar en triptyk över ett par australiensiska nybyggare i tre faser av etableringen. Man ser direkt på den vänstra vems idé det var att emigrera, precis som hos Vilhelm Moberg!Read more
