Another look around Broome. First to the Japanese Cemetery. So many japanese migrants worked in the pearl industry and died while diving for pearls. We also walked through the Chinese Cemetery. Many of them also worked in the pearl industry.
We visited the Broome Museum, which included stories, pictures, videos etc about the pearl industry and the bombing of the top end. Very good.
We also visited The Relationship Exhibition at the old convent of the Sisters of St John of God. The nuns ran a mission for the aboriginal community.
The exhibition was much larger than I expect and extremely well presented with stories, photos, mementos and videos etc. I could have spent much longer there.
By now we realized that we didn't have time for a tour of a pearl museum as we had already booked a camel ride on Cable Beach. A quick lunch and down to the beach. We were introduced to Aslan, who took us on our ride. We then enjoyed a drink and nibblies on the beach with Cheryl and Rod, who had also enjoyed the camel ride.Read more
